Hi, seem to keep drawing blanks. Anyone recommend a decent 3/ 4 star hotel in florence that actually has onsite parking, doesn't just claim to have? Cheers in advance.

Good luck with that in the centre of Florence, it`s such a tiny / tight place that it`s difficult for hotels to build car parks underneath!

I lived in Florence for 6 months and can`t really think of a hotel that DEFINITELY has parking on site!

I stayed in the Baglioni years ago which is opposite Santa Maria Novella, it had parking but I seem to remember that it was valet, you could easily insist that you take it yourself, I THINK the Porta Rossa has parking too.

Cheers, you're right decided on a suburban hotel with parking in the end- avoids the ZTL as well.

Stayed in the holiday inn with two merc sprinters. Carpark front and through a secure gate at the rear.

Watch out for underground car parks with unrealistic entry/exit ramps.

Had a serious grounding moment in a Golf a few years ago in Reggio Emilia I think, only exit from the damn place.. how can they build those things and think its fine if even a standard Golf diesel grounds on it!

Don't normally bump old threads, but since places like Florence don't change much..and have the same issue as the OP..

I've been looking at the AC hotel mentioned. We've already ruled out one or two possibles due to a very tight garage, or a car park entrance you'd be lucky to fit a small Fiat through.

The other option would be a suggestion of secure parking outside the centre with decent transport, if there are any suggestions??

Baglioni again, as above, but insist that you park your own car

Thanks, had a look at their site and on streetview - do they have their own garage or use another?

The other option seems to be to use the car park near Porto Al Prato, and travel in to the centre.

It's underneath the Villa. Indeed under the swimming pool iirc.

Apologies, I'm mixing up my Verona with my Florence.
Florence was Torre Di Bellosguardo.
Frescos in the dining room. Great view of Florence from the outside pool

No need to apologise, that looks even better - just need to convince someone who wants a central hotel now!! Thanks again

We stayed in a old villa in Milan a couple of years ago that we would certainly go back to..

Try the San Gallo Palace, 4* on piazza del liberty, northern side of city. It has an arrangement with NCP like car park 400 meters from hotel with key car, sensible width access and reasonable slopes in and out. See Porsche and other nice cars in there. Used it for hire cars at least 5 times in 8 years.
