Ullapool will be base camp for us for 3 nights (Fri/Sat/Sun), so our paths may well cross.
We normally leave around 9-9.30am each day. If we all turn up en masse, the filling station is going to get a tad crowded!

I know you know this, but watch out for VERY stupid young lambs... who are ALWAYS on the wrong side of the road to mum (and need to get back when they hear a V8, so run accross the road in Lemming like fashion). They are particularly stupid for the first month or so and haven't even started to be born this far north yet. April is 'stupid sheep' month.
Twice in the past few years, PHers have ended up in the peat bog trying to avoid either the lamb - or more dangerously - mum!.
ETA latest (from Highways Boss)
Thanks for your email. As you are probably now aware, the railway track is now open for road vehicles using a convoy system for certain periods during the day between 07.10 am and 19.00 pm. From Monday 23rd March, the opening times will be as follows:
Monday to Friday
0710 to 1030
1135 to 1155
1340 to 1420
1610 to 1700
1810 to 1900
Saturday
0710 to 1030
1340 to 1420
1610 to 1700
1810 to 1900
Sunday
0710 to 1245
1400 to 1505
1615 to 1900
I am not aware of there being any particular problems for low slung sports cars.

Red Devil - so you are the MR2 boys . We met you in 2009 at Kylesku Bridge (see the pic on the link above, Lambo, Z4M, 130 and S2000).
Can't wait
Aha - that did cross my mind when I saw your list and username. The supplier's name on the Lambo's rear plate was 'Lamborghini Manchester'.Can't wait
I was gutted at being forced by reasons beyond my control to miss last year's event.
Here's hoping the weather is as good as it was in 2009.
This is the route I took in the Caterham whilst on holiday up in the Highlands: http://g.co/maps/ckg28
Elgin (to pick up the Caterham)
Beauly (to the Bothy where we were staying the night)
Up to the Falls of Shin
Lairg
Ullapool
Elgin
Really pleased with the route. The roads were incredible and offered a real mix of A roads and twisty single tracks. Incredible scenery and no traffic whatsoever!

Yep, March 22, 2012 at 11.05am GMT
It was definitely taken with a camera, but I had no tripod, just handheld. Hope you had a good day on the bike.

I know where the other pics were taken, but as you seem to be enjoying looking through street view for them I'll not tell. Red Devil said:

Found the location for this one too. In two of the photos the car hasn't moved, so that just leaves one. You could probably work it out from my route map and by looking at the EXIF data in Flickr to see when the photos were taken.
ETA: I wanted to buy the GPS geotag jobby for my Nikon, but this is nearly as good! Thanks!

Correct again! Good job
The backgrounds in both were familiar so it wasn't difficult. danyeates said:

Don't need the EXIF data - you have already confirmed it was taken mid morning. Even without that information it has to be on a road I haven't driven yet as I didn't recognise the vantage point. Two other clues are the shape of the shoreline and the height from which the photo was taken. That combination means it must be Struie Hill on the B9176 overlooking the Dornoch Firth.

I really hope this potential fuel strike doesn't force cancellation of our trip
