I've stayed at the Tongue Hotel many times and it's very good, especially out of main season when you get seemingly bonkers good value multi-night dinner&B&B rates.
Only partial downside last time I went out of season was that they closed the dining room and used part of the comfy lounge for eating which restricted the comfortable places to sit in the evening.
Hope you're having fun Dave

Dave driven past that many times, I'd be interested to hear what you think of it.
I've stayed a couple of times and it was very good. Just been on my own working and arrived late evening and left first thing in the morning, but from what I've seen I'd happily go back with a 'partner' for a weekend or a few days.

Up to Trotternish in the North and down to Elgol in the south
Don't miss out the minor road across Trotternish past the Quiraing.Go down to Glen Brittle walk on the black and gold sand of the beach.
Take a tour round the Talisker Distillery at Carbost.
Lastly, if the wee ferry is still on, take a trip across the narrows at Kylerhea.
I had to check on the phone as the pics didn't come up at work but I agree too, the Kylesku Hotel does amazing food. Good service too. It's really nice to find a place where everything comes together like it does there. Not cheap, but then it still feels like pretty good value. The midges were horrific when I was there in July though; the one wet day of the trip and they all seemed to come out of the woodwork, grass, and everywhere else they'd been hiding. Awesome view down Glen Coull and Glen Dubh from there too.

Another one I've often wondered about
I'll have to give it a try based on you two liking it!
The rooms are pretty small and the wi fi is a bit dodgy, but the food, atmos and service are great. Food is posh bistro rather than fine dining, but very tasty.I'll have to give it a try based on you two liking it!
Here's a panoramic of the bridge ... hotel is just behind the nearest hill.

The Mam Ratagan pass and Glenelg ferry is the only proper route to/from Skye for any self-respecting petrolhead. It doesn't run in the winter. The last sailing is normally mid October but you'll need to check with the operator for the exact date.

Yep know it well
Kylesku bridge fly-by. PH crew in the foreground.
Im going to be heading up sooner rather than later for a Scotland trip. Coming up from London in a Caterham, I will set aside a day just to travel up and another to come back down. Ideally want to spend three days to enjoy the roads.
I have got though a lot of the previous posts to find a suitable road for the three days but many of the initial routes posted are always changed once other posters provide their input.
I wondered if anyone could post a Google maps route which would take in all of the great roads. I would prefer to start on the west side and end up in Edinburgh at the end if possible.
Any posts will be greatly appreciated.

It should do the trick. I've come to understand, that 3 days is not enough to take in everything unless you're driving 8 - 9 hours a day, which is nuts. This takes in a lot of great stuff, but not all of it. Starts in Glasgow, ends just above Edinburgh.
