I'll also be up there in April, around the 14th and 15th. Can anyone recommend anywhere to stay in the Applecross area for a couple of nights. I'm thinking B&B rather than camping.
There's a SYH on the edge of Applecross now, basic but cheap. If it's literally just as a bed to kip on, a hot shower and access to a self-catering kitchen you can't really go wrong for around £12/head.z4goon said:
I'm planning on a couple of road trips again in April and September however I'm wondering if I can squeeze a few days in mid-late March. I know you can't say for sure but is there likely to be snow on the roads at this time? Itching to get up there!
March is normally fine. The roads that get shut for snow are the two main routes up (A9 and Glen Coe), but these are *usually* opened within hours. On the west coast all sea level routes are fine in March - Places like the Bealach can still be closed, so the coast road is the only way to Applecross etc. Lots of the hotels are still closed mind - you'll probably have to go Inn, Guest House or B&B.Blown2CV said:

That's not a good start, getting your wedding date wrong. st i've just realised, it's May not April... oops
You do realise don't you that your card is now marked?
You will be made to pay for this gaffe for the rest of your life.

Could go either way... sun, rain, snow. Usually it's all three but none in excess. You WILL get rain. !

Was planning a trip to the highlands in a couple of weeks, but the rotters at UK immigration refused Mrs DG3 a visa. Then I found this thread, lots of realy good contributions, especially from Steve Carter, viewing your images is almost like being there, thank you. Now I'm even more determined to do it. Thank you to all posters, wish you all many happy visits to the highlands.
