Just read this from start to finish and has really got me excited to be visiting next week for 7 nights. Staying in Lairg so fairly central to all the good west coastal roads
There should be some sort of medal to be awarded to someone who read a long whole thread, combined with a first post!GetCarter said:

- https://goo.gl/maps/c2QfwzAq1x42The weather was just like in GC's pic when I was there earlier this year.
Not cloud in the sky. Deserted open road. Perfect.

Yeah, the weather, could you do something about that please? We are due to leave today and it's forecast as 72 hours of rain...The weather was just like in GC's pic when I was there earlier this year.

There should be some sort of medal to be awarded to someone who read a long whole thread, combined with a first post!I've camped there a few times. The family who run the site are somewhat special, but friendly enough. I seem to recall the bloke running the local shop was from darn sarf & had retired up there.

Your "opponent"? You might be taking this too seriously. Get a grip man. Sad that PH always descends into this unwarranted behaviour that would never happen if people were face to face.
I'd read past replies as "In the spirit of friendly debate,",not as above. I was replying in that vein. My original question on part of the A 861 ( Ardgour- Strontian section), about a section of the road circa 1966/67 where the surface was cart track and known as Red Rocks seems ( as in true PH fashion) to have gone that O/T, that I may as well have been asking about a track on the moon.
we had good fun
although leaving the office (Brussels) was with a little delay
so I missed the boat
and had to take the chunnel in the evening
drove most of the night
snake road around midnight
and kirtstone pass in the morning
slept in the Spyder for 4hours once and 2,5hours a bit later in the night
(bucketseats are not my favorite bed...)
we did most of it
was my second time will skip Applecross next time
and stay a second night in Lochinver
classic locations, more pics to follow
