Most people are focused on the NSL sign ready to put the hammer down. smile
So they zoom past this turning - https://goo.gl/maps/sChzaLpwvtQ2
Which takes you to here - https://goo.gl/maps/eMd5sUT5SqJ2

The next two are the Fairy Pools at Glenbrittle.

The penultimate one has a pole with the reverse side of a Diagram 801 sign.
That strongly implies an A road as lesser ones don't have them up there AFAIK.
The jagged mountain profile in the background suggests Kintail or Skye.
I'm pretty sure it's not the latter and I'm struggling to find a match for the former.

That really is well done bow especially the penultimate picture which you identified correctly as Kintail, A87 a few miles down the road from the Five sisters.
I'll have to try harder next time.

Thanks. smile It's a lot more fun than this. nerdrolleyes

Should have got it first time. Bah! smash

Neat trick using the Aston to hide the bend sign and chevron btw. wink

Plus the low camera angle to expunge any trace of the River Shiel! evil

My favorite is the second one. Great composition and the autumn colours are superb. thumbup

Autumn colours are just at their best at the moment. Fired up the old thing for the first time in a couple of months for a hurl round Scotsburgring just there:

My Pics (sorry not many) from my trip!

Will do a proper write-up in my reader's rides...

My route:

Day 1 Dunfermline to Helmsdale via Fort William.

Yeah so originally I was going to go up the A9, but decided, nah, sod it. Glad I did!

Some awesome roads this way, and the A82 was closed part way so I diverted off at Fort Augustus.

Day 2 Helmsdale to Invernaver via everywhere!

I met a friend who works in Wick and lives in Thurso, hence the loop, a fun day out, had a drive of his Megane turbo and he drove the BRZ.

Day 3 Invernaver to Ullapool via Lochinver

Some incredible roads!!!! Certainly my favourate day behind the wheel, dry, fast and flowing for the most part. Incredible.

Day 4 Ullapool to Lanercost via Applecross & Fort William

This was a long old stretch! I personally wouldn't bother with the unclassified road into Applecross from Shieldaig, and I'd stay on the A896, and just drive the Applecross pass once in either direction. The rest was great fun until I got to Loch Lomond which is where traffic picks up, then it was just a drive down to Cumbria.

Day 5 Lanercost to Home via A686

The A686 southern end to Alston is pretty damn good!!! The rest not so much, but well worth the detour!

Anyway, pictures:

And that's the lot!!!

In all honesty I wouldn't bother with much of the east coast again, glad I ticked off John o Groats but wouldn't make the effort on a 2nd trip.

Looks like a good trip! Make sure you post a link to your readers rides with the full write up. I couldn't find a link to it in your profile.

IIRC I very nearly came a cropper on my motorbike on that corner - made a total arse of the right hander heading in the opposite direction of the car in the photo and ran onto the verge after misjudging my line and speed, and had to lean the bike far more than I was used to in an attempt to avoid going into the (rather solid looking) scenery. Lesson learned. yikes
