Very beautiful
Makes me think I should get up here in the week I have off at the beginning of January, but I wouldn't know where to start and also the weather.
Maybe Glasgow then take it from there?
If you read back over this thread... you'll get the idea...Makes me think I should get up here in the week I have off at the beginning of January, but I wouldn't know where to start and also the weather.

But yes, start at Glasgow, head for Fort William, then keep going on the west coast as far as you can.
You need to a/ watch the weather! and b/ see what's open and what's closed (most is closed in Jan).

As the chap said "fascinating" thanks for sharing. We've had some superb weather in the past couple of weeks: I spent a week working on Mull...

I'm looking for a bit of help guys - Skye hotels. I've been through the thread, had a look online etc and I'm struggling to find a decent hotel for less than £150 per night for two folk sharing a room.
I'm planning a car club run in the summer to Skye, getting the Glenelg ferry and staying for one night. Probably 4 cars, 8 people, staying Portree or south, to then spend the next day driving round the island then home.
I know we should take more time etc (and I have done in the past) but this is just a one night stay. Probably looking at going mid-September.
Any ideas?
