Yep... that's mine. I gave permission for the NC500 to use it, so I assume they gave it to Amazon.

Not sure of the legality of that!

ETA... and as I KEEP on telling them, that bit of road isn't on the route. Tut.

Nice looking publication which might be handy for anyone planning a trip, was mooching around Drivetribe and found this Tribe advertising their new publication. http://www.curves-magazin.com/en/magazine/curves-b...

Don't know if anyone's seen a copy. Fortunately it is bisexual in case your German isn't much cop like mine. The route map looks to cover all the right bits so could be a good guide book for anyone who's not visited nirvana yet.

Last year I didn't find petrol too much of a problem, but I may as well ask here...

I'm going to be based near to Dornie for my trip this year, but will be doing mostly Skye and some other places. Where's going to be best/cheapest for petrol? No need for super unleaded.

Skye gets a 5p per litre gov subsidy, so prices are generally cheaper in Broadway (et al) than Kyle of Lochalsh

Cheers, Steve. I'll keep that in mind when I'm over there, as we intend to spend most of the time on Skye, so we'll be passing Broadford most days I'd have thought.

how come you gave it to them to use, if it's not on the route?

They requested it. I told them it wasn't on the route. They said it didn't matter. It was 'representative'.

Which it kind of is I guess.

Well we've booked a cottage in fort William for March

Looking forward to it and making a note of all the places we want to see

Is there many Shell Stations up that way? Or garages selling Premium Diesel?

There's a BP although I can't remember if it sells premium diesel, do you even need it though?

FYI I've eaten out a lot in Fort William and I'd have Browns and the Ben Nevis Inn as the best 2 restaurants.

i always thought that certain petrol cars actually required superunleaded, but no diesel cars actually require premium diesel... surely that's one of the benefits of diesel, that you can more or less fill up anywhere?

Car runs a lot smoother on quality diesel

Cheers for the recommendations I'll look into them

None whatsoever in the Highlands.

The last ones depend on the route you take to wherever you are going.
West side: Erskine (the exit before the bridge going north) and Helensburgh.
East side: A9 near Gleneagles then Inverness.

BP at /close by the A82/A82 ( opposite Ben Nevis Distillery ) is said by Petrol prices.com to sell Premium Diesel . Also mentioned is the Mr Ben ( Esso ) station, on the Spean side of the road leading to the Alcan ( Aluminium factory).

You're over 12 hours late to the party re the BP Road to the Isles filling station. wink
The BP station finder has a handy search criteria filter so that you can look for the specific fuel you need.

The Esso equivalent just lists everything that the station offers

PetrolPrices.com is useful if you want to know what's available in a specific locality.
Google Maps pinpoints the locations if you're unfamiliar with the area.
