At least 6 if not 7 of them, some grumpy (or focused ?) females and some equally grumpy chaps, the guy I photographed was the most pleasant of the group.
So was that you in the DB 9 Steve ? (I was in the Suzuka Grey TTRS parked up in the layby just up the road from the house I posted an image of)

They were probably grumpy as each had had half their bike nicked. So was that you in the DB 9 Steve ? (I was in the Suzuka Grey TTRS parked up in the layby just up the road from the house I posted an image of)
Not me in the Aston. Sold mine a few years back. The layby you were standing in is about 100 yards from my house. The one you were taking the photo of belongs to Gordon Murray (It's common knowledge now). He's a very fine chap but insists on the Berlingo …though he has an order in for an amphibious car - you might have noticed the house has a garage with a slip road into the sea! :

Heading to torridon tomorrow - would I require a midget net when I am out on walks? (I have some smidge but no clue if it will work properly)
You chose a bad day to come... front coming in!Smidge actually works, but three things... don't rub your eyes if it's on your fingers!!, make sure it's on any exposed flesh and wear a hat of some sort (they get your scalp!).
That's all the bad news. The good news, they only really get you when you are standing still... they hate cold &/or windy conditions and so far this year they haven't been too bad. Still, overcast and damp is what they like. None here today as it's sunny.

Afraid it was already booked as most places seem v busy, hoping for a bit of dry it was wet a couple of months ago during my driving trip. Fingers crossed the forecast is wrong or ill have to sit at the torridon bar for longer than planned!
Will you be around?

It's Loch Shieldaig... Torridon.More pics: http://www.stevecarter.com/latest/latesttorridon.h...
If you are buying a midge net, get a full torso one. Add a pair of gloves or tuck the sleeves together and you are full insulated from the little gits.
As has been said though, unless you are standing still you'll be fine. I find midge nets and repellents are almost as unpleasant as midges!

Had a great few days. Lunch outside at a lovely cafe in Gairloch at midday Friday - sun was shining with fantastic views. Took a drive down to Torridon afterwards. Had a pint in the Inn then went for a nice walk.
Weather was not so kind to us on Sat so after breakfast we drove up to Diabeg and stopped at a few places for a look. Cruised over to Badachro pub and we were fortunate enough to get a seat at the window. Believe there was a golf R there in grey. Also spotted a couple of blue Audi's (S5, RS5), initially stopped in a layby then caught up on me.....got to single track and kept pace.....was wondering if it was a car review magazine or just friends....I think I also seen a grey S5, an MG and a bunch of mx5's. The most difficult part in some of the areas is staying in the 3point zone when overtaking the 45mph crew.
Post lunch we went to Gairloch and the weather was miserable so had come more coffee in mountain cafe place then watched some of the golf (and re read steve's house build blog! with massive envy, not at the stress, but the result you are left with - amazing house and amazing location to live). Had some dinner later on in the hotel across the road. Got very lucky with the room for Saturday...great price and great views (completely unplanned).
DB9 was going in the opposite direction to us when we were leaving. Stopped in Inverness on the way home. Sun was shining bright so we were rather lucky considering the outlook walked to the gala day and watch some martial arts competition / tug of war!
If I can afford it - I would love to buy myself a little retreat up there. People are indeed very friendly and my heart rate, I am sure, is significantly lower.
