Drove on the 4560 recently after seeing your post, was a brilliant road up until it narrows up more than ideal before reaching Llangyndir so so might double back at the last hairpin and turn off to crickhowell heading north next time though. Much appreciated for your post!

Also drove on the B4521 to Abergavenny as entering the Wales and at the end of the day left by the B4235 usk to chepstow, both roads were excellent as well I thought.
Glad to help, they are great roads!

B4518 Rhyader - Llanidloes
are not too shabby.
These are also very good roads, the nearby B4358 from Newbridge to Bleugh is also worth doing!

On Boxing Day I did the B797 Wanlockhead road and A708 Grey Mare's Tail road, both great fun.

There are some fantastic roads in Scotland south of the Central Belt that are often overlooked in favour of the Highlands. Good thing too wink

Found the B3227 west from Bampton to the A361 to be bloody awesome and empty at around lunch time today biggrin

https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?saddr=the+black+and...

And this mornings route. Shame the B3223 from Simonsbath to Lynmouth was shut, but it was still a great drive with the roads being so quiet!

The A591. It has different names depending on where you are on it.
Chestnut Hill/Castlerigg Brow/Nest Brow - heading out of Keswick
Dunmail Raise - south of Thirlmere
Rydal Road - between Rydal and Ambleside
Market Place - in Ambleside
Lake Road - between Ambleside and Waterhead
Skelghyll Lane - between Waterhead and Toutbeck Bridge
Ambleside Road between Troutbeck Bridge and Windermere

It forms the bulk of the primary route from the south to the Lakes, leaving the A590 to Barrow-in-Furness at Sizergh. Not too bad at this time of year but a nightmare after the tourists start arriving en masse.

B4520 North out of Brecon towards Builth Wells. Awesome, twisty and up and down like a roller coaster. Wandering sheep to watch out for though !

Did that on the return leg down from Scotland via Hexham and Blanchland in 2012. This year we decided to try a different route and headed down the A7 then the B6318 to Gilsland, From there to Lambley, Slaggyford, and Alston. There we split up.

My mate went west to tackle Hartside while I headed east into the town and the B6277 to Barnard Castle. All I can say is the section across the fells past Burnhope Seat and the watershed between the South Tyne and the Tees is awesome. Made even better by a play with a modded GT4.

B6277 is one of my all-time memorable drives, from Middleton towards Alston the section after the High Force waterfall is awesome on the right day. Well sighted with a variety of tight and open corners. Never exactly busy anytime.

The A697 is a great alternative to the A68 if you're heading up to Edinburgh from Derby/Durham area. It's got some great twisties, long straights and breathtaking scenery. Speed camera detector is highly recommended for this route though.

I always used to take the A697 when going up to Edinburgh. It was a bit mean that they put all the cameras on the overtaking stretches though. I remember triggering a camera in the wrong direction a couple of times! whistle

I enjoyed a nice blast up the A701 north of Moffat in the good weather a couple of weeks ago, great road, good sightlines, reasonable surface.

I prefer it coming the other way. In particular seeing how rapidly you can descend the Devil's Beef Tub.
Brownie points if you can do it with little or no braking. lick

Be careful in Broughton. The BiB sometimes like to park in the shadows under the trees here.
Hairdryer at the ready to snare anyone who has crept over the 30 limit.

I had to drive from Coventry to Rugby yesterday, but rather than driving the direct route I went to check out a road I'd heard good things about, the A44 heading east from Evesham, towards Moreton in Marsh. It rises up over a ridge and the climb is a sequence of alpine style hairpins, but with a crawler lane - even better than I was expecting.

On the way to Evesham I took the B4089 to Alcester, which was also a good road.

Yes the downhill stretch was particularly awesome, made me properly fall for my new car! Agree on it being amusing if taken at a steadier speed with as little braking as possible!

You're not kidding. A 12 mile journey just became eight times as long! Presumably the Fosse Way from Moreton?

yes - Fish Hill, Broadway.

Going the other way it's even (in)famous enough to get its own name sign.
Get ready to bail out! Your final warning! Welcome to the last chance saloon...
(don't park here unless you want to risk an artic up your chuff...).

Fairly average AFAICS and the decent bits spoiled by the 50 limit.frown
