Hey Mikey - did Norway in 2001 in my S14a. Ferry to Bergen then drove to North Cape. Found everything ridiculously expensive, even then. But that wont be an issue for you ;-)

Hi Dave
It will be a 50th bday so the cost is less of an issue

I was planning this for this year but some health and car issues have put paid to that frown
To cheer myself up I've booked one of these for two week next August

After looking at numerous ferry routes I decided to drive it via Denmark and Sweden with a hotel stop in Denmark.
It just gives a lot more flexibility to timings and cost.
Plus in the 650S I will enjoy the drive!
Looking forward to it already!

Currently in discussions about driving to Norway next year as a means of running-in my dad's new car. We're looking at ferry to Rotterdam, race meeting at Zandvoort, Miniatur Wunderland in Hamburg and Legoland as excursions.

What is the route like? Will we find some good roads on the way up there? Anywhere particularly awesome to drive in Norway? Albeit at limited speed...!

It's a long days drive (at least) just to get into Southern Norway from Hamburg.
There are some fantastic roads and scenery
BUT it is a massive country with no motorways and lots of ferry crossings to get further North or to the coast
Hence why I'm booking a chalet "somewhere in the Middle"!

Mikey, I took the 12C to Norway in 2014, amazing roads making it totally worth the trip.
We went well off the beaten track and enjoyed some stunning views and drives, well away from the local Police.

Hotel prices were comparative to London hotels and fuel was almost the same cost as the UK.

We were lucky in that we went on the final year of the UK to Denmark ferry saving a lot of driving just to get there.
The car performed great with no issues getting on or off the ferries.

Driving the country is soooo much better than those poor souls that only make the cruise liners..

I'm guessing the ride and clearance wasn't an issue in the 12C
It will be my first euro trip in my 650S

We did the older Newcastle to Stavanger, then drove to Oslo
Then in the 2 years I lived in Oslo, that service stopped.
Returning we did Kristiansands to Hirtshals on Color Line
Then drove to Esbjerg, took the DFDS line to Harwich.

Easy enough
