PS. The White Lion looks good on Booking.com but Trip Advisor reviews were not good.

Ate a The White Lion while on a camping trip about 5 years ago. Don't remember much beyond "it was OK" except we didn't fancy the puddings that day so went for a cheeseboard. The slab of cheddar that arrived came back to the tent with us and lasted the rest of the trip.

Never stayed there as I'm fairly local..... But this place has a good reputation for food locally.... Just outside Bala

I've just got back from 3 nights staying at the Cross Foxes in Dolgellau, which is about 20 mins from Bala.

Excellent rooms, fantastic food (and beer), ample parking and wi-fi as well.

We were in the Idris suite which was superb (£135 per night inc brekkie).
