According to Google maps it's now tailed back to Clacket lane and it is also solid down the A224 and A20 where I live.

Look guys, be reasonable. The Highways Agency have made the motorways much wider each side of the tunnel now so we can all sit in a much bigger traffic jam. And they've planted lots of nice tree, so we can admire them, and all the wildlife they encourage. And it only cost about £6b, so there. Got to pay for it you know!!!

It's a first!

M25/A282 | Dartford Crossing | Southbound | Suspension of charges

As a result of congestion on the Dartford-Thurrock River Crossing and M25 clockwise, the Highways Agency has temporarily suspended charges southbound on the Crossing until further notice. This is to ease severe congestion on the M25 clockwise approach to the crossing which has built up as a result of work taking place to introduce Dart Charge and also to reduce the risk of minor collisions in queuing traffic.

We are doing all we possibly can to help keep traffic moving.

I saw that and thought it very strange as according to Google maps and the Traffic England web cams congestion was and is far lighter than a usual Saturday.

So... Day 1 .... How is it going ? I can't seem to access the traffic cameras or have they switched them off out of embarrassment ?

Sailed through yesterday at 8am and today at 11:05, clearest I've known it. The barriers still go up and down but there's no-one in the booths - kinda eery!

So the barriers are still stopping people and its not a constant flow ?

On the Northbound.... Southbound they are quickly demolishing some booths to create a clear run.

As above.... But also, the barriers only go fully down if there is a gap in traffic. Otherwise they go down a few degrees and shoot back up once the number plate is read.
