I was on the A9 last Monday, going North to Orkney, then back South on Thursday. Traffic crocodiles not really a problem on a motorbike, and I know the road well enough to know when not to bother looking for an overtake.

What struck me was the both lack of understanding of the average speed cameras and the lack of awareness of the big digital displays every so often that stated "A9 Average Speed Cameras not operational", yet the amount of numpties who hit their brakes at each and every one was quite illuminating.

Which raises another issue: why do we have to be told that the cameras are not operational?

Is it because the "authorities" have seen the unnecessary hold up's that they have caused? Which begs the question, why install them at all? It obvious to a blind man that they have disrupted the already poor traffic flow, but this is sending very mixed messages.

The traffic is too slow, tell the drivers that the cameras don't work so they speed up.

So what the fk do they think will happen in October when they are switched on? It beggars belief.

Did a return trip Stirling - Inverness yesterday. The traffic wasn't too bad, and only three oncoming motorists tried to kill us by suicidal overtaking. A lot of police traffic patrols around... sorry, NO police traffic patrols about. The only "law" to be seen on the whole 300 mile round trip was an ACCIDENT CAUSING ,CASH GRABBING camera van which was parked up near a well known accident black spot. I lie of course - it was parked up half way along one of the longest clear stretches on the entire fking road!furiousfurious
