Furka & Grimsell passes

Planning this year's road trip. Anyone here know if these passes are likely to be open by mid June.

They'll normally be open then but you could get bad weather all the same. My first time on the Grimsel was last week of June in 2010 and we had to turn back when drizzle at the bottom turned to a blizzard 3/4 the way up (snow drift formed on the tonneu). On the way back down we passed an Evo and Forrester that had collided and were both balanced on the barriers.

Thanks for the info. I had a similar experience on the Simplon, and the Grossglockner.

I'm planning a route at the moment, but will of course check the relevant website before actually setting off from Brig.

I was there mid/late June in 2013 and the Susten pass was still closed whereas the Furka and Grimsell ones were open. A little out the way of those but the Grand St Bernard was still closed then as well. They are normally open by then but not always.

I've done them on varying dates from 20th June onwards and though the weather was a bit rough in 2012 they were open each time. I realise this is a bit later than you're asking about, though.
