Stratford upon Avon to Scotland - hotel and route

In May, I'm at a meeting in Stratford upon Avon until 3pm-ish, then heading up the road to home in NE Scotland.

Planning on doing maybe 3 hours driving on the Wed night, so looking for advice on a decent route and a decent country hotel/pub - would prefer something laid back and not too fancy. Good pub food and a nice beer or two would be ideal

Cross the bridge in Stratford then first left onto B4086
Left onto A429 (signed Wellesbourne/Kineton)
Right at next roundabout onto B4086 (signed Wellesbourne/Kineton)
Left at roundabout onto B4455 Fosse Way
Follow B4455 all the way to the A5 at High Cross
Then A5/M69/M1/A50/A515/A5270/A6/B6049 to Millers Dale
At town sign/40 limit cross the River Wye then first left (unclassified, signed Wormhill)
Left onto A623 at Peak Forest
At Sparrowpit turn right (signed Blue John Cavern/Edale)
Fork right (signed Castleton Caverns/Peveril Castle)
Descend Winnats Pass to Castleton

Stay at Ye Old Cheshire Cheese Inn.

Then A6187/A6013/A57/Unclassified to Midhopestones/A616/A628 to M1 J37


If you want to get further north before stopping, then as above but don't diverge from the M1
Then M18/A1(M)/A59/Unclassified to Goldsborough

Stay at The Bay Horse Inn.
