There are some really nice swooping corners and dips on the 535 and the scenery isn't bad but it's way too busy and hazardy to be considered a great driving road. Those new 30 limits are a bit much too. A54 Congleton to Buxton is my local fave.

In fact, isn't just about every single road in Wales bar the M4 better? smile
More rubbish, unless you've driven every road in Wales (bar the M4). Mind you, as you've clearly driven bazillions of roads in France maybe you've done the same in Wales, lol. Unless that's just meaningless conjecture of course. smile

Those new 30 limits are very short. Best do the road after 10 at night or a mid-week afternoon.

Nordschleife is one of my favourites.

Also Isle of Man.

I was surprised that there are some decent Autobahns, twisty and fast.

Plenty of gravel roads in Australia.

Basically anywhere where I can drive quick(ish) without worrying that I'll be arrested.

The beauty of lists like this is it drives the majority to those roads, leaving those that know to the really good roads wink

The majority ? Really ? Doe anybody with an IQ in double figures pay any attention to lists like this other than to indulge in some lofty contempt ? I watched 5 minutes of the video - more fool me. It's a road - like scores of others just like it across the country . As said, it isn't the road to The Road to the Isles , the Raticosa, the Susstenpass or the Route Napoleon- to name a few I have driven .

They feel like forever to me! Especially with a big white Q7/X6 up your arse. I loved doing those roads every day in my little mr2 when I worked up at AZ.

The best road is one with very little traffic.

Me and a couple of other ph'ers did a road in Australia called the Bylong Valley Way.

The best part of the trip was 220 odd km. We passed maybe 30 cars. Easy overtaking. Amazing scenery. No traffic. Great road.

I'll post pics tomorrow.

30 cars in 135 miles? Pfft! I don't need to fly over 10,000 miles to better that. Go at the right time of year to the Highlands of Scotland. Up there, 30 cars would be serious overcrowding. Just last month - 95 miles: 6 cars. Only one overtake: the other 5 were oncoming.

My record in Scotland is Durness- Tongue - Lairg before I saw another car- 7am start on a sunday morning. Last year- on bank holiday saturday- I saw fewer than ten cars between Durness and Altnaharra ....

South of Madrid (around 10AM) from Los Yebenes onwards, 48 miles in 42 minutes. We met one car and that was coming the other way.

Finally my wife realised why I went all the way to Spain to enjoy driving these days. The UK sucks in comparison IMO.

But that's kind of my point. I'm not saying that road is the best, but a deserted twisty road, wherever the location, is a lot more fun than a famous driving road clogged with tourists.

Half of those 30 were on big group of bikes, so they don't count anyway.
