After getting back from our Euro trip to Lake Garda in the 147 GTA, I thought I would post a few pics of the trip. For anyone thnking of doing a similar trip, just do it, it was a fantastic 9 days.

The plan was a nice gentle run down to Garda over 3 days, stopping at Reims, Lake Geneva, calling in at the newly reopened Alfa museum near Milan and onto Garda. After 2 days in Sirmione, the return journey was stopovers at Davos, Nancy, Arras and then home. Here's a few pics of the first 3 days, more pics to follow.

After a early start from Nottingham, we caught a mid morning ferry from Dover to Calais. Cleaning the car the day before was a waste of time as it peed down most of the way. It was to be the only rain of the trip!

A quick stop off at the GP circuit before arrivng at the hotel.

This was our view out of our hotel room. Not a very glamorous start!

Reims is a nice stopover. A lovely meal and a stroll arund the city.

The following day was onto Lake Geneva via the D996 to Dijon. A great road with some lovely villages.

The shore of Lake Geneva

The view from our hotel balcony. Couldnt resist a quick swim either!

The next day was into Italy via the St Bernards Pass. Great fun in a GTA!

Pics of the Alfa museum and the next few days to follow.

Looks like you had a fun trip.

Lovely looking car, still looks great today and the engine in these is a work of art in itself.

Looks great. Something I always wanted to do in my 156 GTA Sportswagon. Brill car and such a shame I never managed it.

Thanks guys, the GTA was a great car to do this trip in.

After crossing into Italy via the St Bernards Pass, the next stop was the Alfa museum. The motorways of Milan were a bit of a shock after the quiet Alpine passes. Anyway, here's a few pics ( I took 122 pictures) from the museum.

After the museum is was off to Sirmione on the southern shores of Lake Garda. Beautiful place, weather was in the high 30s so lots of time spent in the lake to cool down.

We took a boat ride across the lake to the other side for a few hours.

After 2 days in Sirmione, we had a short 25 mile overnight stop to Verona. We went to the opera at the Arena, which was a fantastic experience. Tosca was the opera, so we bought a book in advance so we could follow the story.

The opera changes most nights, so the stage props are left outside when not in use

The final few days pics to follow.

Here's a shot of our Reims visit a couple of weeks ago. Happened to coincide with a group of French Renault Alpine owners.

So the final set of pics. We left Verona and headed to Davos, trying to drive a few of the recommended passes. Stelvio was a must, although I was slightly disappointed, much prefered the flowing roads of some of the other passes we drove.

Had to stop when the wife said she wasnt well!

So she drove to take he mind off it!

I actually had Matt Monro on when this appeared!

Nice Intagrale on the Stelvio

Looking down on the Stelvio

This was actually a Motorway carpark!

Next stop after Davos was Nancy. Nice city, with a beautiful square.

1918 Armistice Memorial

Last stop Arras. Final evening meal outside in the square

Almost home! A mid midday ferry back to Dover.

This is what 2000 miles does for the front of your car!

Over the 9 days we covered 2127 miles, spent 46 hrs 29 mins driving, average speed was 46 mph and managed to average 31.3mpg. Would we do it again? You bet!!
