Average Speed Camera A34
Discussion
Hi guys a question about the Average speed camera going South towards Chilton, Milton and Newbury. What I'd like to know is what the actual speed you need to maintain through it. What has got me confused is that it has speed limit changes throughout the duration of the time you are being monitored. It goes from 50 -40 - 30. My satnav recorded me going through the Average Speed check at 36 I'm worried that as 30 was the lowest limit I might of been clocked!

I cannot really see anything confusing about this. Try staying at (no more than) 50 in the 50 limit, 40 in the 40 and 30 in the 30 - subject of course to other traffic. Then you'll be all right :-)
If I were responsible for raising funds from speeding fines I would of course put a speed trap in the 30 limit, expecting to catch fools who decided they could get away with working out an average speed and sticking to it throughout - though they would run the risk in the 50 limit of being tail-gated as they would have been driving at less than the limit. Why would anyone do that ?

Isn't cruise control great on sections covered by average speed cameras , on these sections I use TomTom to monitor speed and set my cruise by that , generally I am passing all those relying on the speedo
also on cars I have with inbuilt sat nav I have noted the discrepancy of the speedo , under reading speed , and been able to cruise accordingly
