At the end of November I've got to go to Glasgow for a few days on a work conference. I have pretty much the whole day to get up there on a Friday and was thinking of getting the first part of the journey done using the M1/A1 as far as Scotch corner but then am looking for some decent roads anywhere between there and Glasgow to explore.

Any advice welcome - I'm mostly looking for decent, quiet B roads if at all possible.

Thanks
Steve

Try this - https://goo.gl/maps/t9wyRXwcqik - use the M74 between Elvanfoot (J14) and Abington (J13), NOT the A702.
If time is an issue, you can join the A74(M)/M74 at any of the junctions between Gretna Services and J11 except #18.

That's brilliant, thanks! PH is great sometimes... I think I should have enough time but good to know there's an opt out if required. I will certainly try it and report back!

Well that route across the Pennines was pretty epic, thanks. The B2677 to Alston from Middleton-in-Teesdale was especially good - the open bends and interesting camber/elevation changes were great.
