Anyone commuting/commuted from/through farnham to weybridge via a31 and a3?

What is the traffic like at hogs back in rush hour, needing to be there just before 9am?

GMAPS says est travel time would be around 45 minutes i take it that does not account for the congestion that apparently happens through guildford / hogs back?

What sort of delays am I going to encounter?

Many Thanks wavey

Many. Hog's Back a well known queuing point.
Suggest take a day off work and try it out during rush hour.

If the computer estimates 45 mins, I'd say 1h to 1h15 normally,
and up to 2h on a bad day.

My Manager lives in Aldershot and drives to Weybridge daily, via Hogs Back and A3, he starts at 8:45; he leaves home at 7:15, sometimes he is late, most of the time he is bang on; Farnham is a bit further back so give yourself another 10 minutes.

Traffic is always awful on the Hogs Back and A3 through Guildford and leading up to the M25, if there is an accident it can take him 2 hours, sometimes longer.

Getting back home can be just as bad.

Would bypassing the a3 by going up through aldershot / farnborough via a331, heading along the m3 then down the m25 be any better? I realise the m25 is englands largest car park laugh but i'd only be on there for a little..

There are many, many rat runs that can get you to Weybridge from Farnham, in a similar time as rush hour main roads.

have a look at a map, and if you have a fun car for the commute it's a bonus.

Put it this way; my manager rarely goes that way as it is usually worse, he sometimes goes via M25 and M3 on the way home to avoid the inevitable queuing/accident on the A3 at the Wooden Bridge (Guildford) to the Cathedral, but usually it is no quicker.

I am Merrow (Guildford) I go the back roads and join the A3 at Ripley; just before the M25, it is bad enough there but far worse leading up to there, it takes me 45 minutes and it is half the distance than coming from Aldershot.

Whichever way you go will be a ballache.

I wouldn't recommend it - M3 will be virtually stationary at that time of day especially while they are still turning it into a "Smart" motorway so no hard shoulder!

Then the M25 J12 to J11 will probably be no better as it is on the variable speed limit stretch, and seems to have a lower limit in force virtually all day to make sure the traffic is backed up! laugh
