Hello all
I'm driving up to Settle from North Leicestershire on Thursday.
Rather than using the M1 & other motorways, I would like to drive through the Peak District & use A & B roads to Settle (North Yorkshire).
Would anyone have any recommendations of some interesting roads to drive on the way up?
Cheers

As a quick starting point I'd think about this, I don't know south of Derby too well, but I have lived in Derby, Manchester, West Yorkshire and East Lancashire so know the roads pretty well round here.

Highlights would be the Via Gellia (Derbyshire) and Holme Moss (Deryshire/Yorks border).

Its not included on this route but could be used as part of your journey - the A682 from Blacko to Gisburn is my favourite piece of road in the country (and onto Long Preston). I am biased though because thats where I was brought up and I know that road like no other.

Once you are in Settle you are spoilt for choice, great roads round there! Whichever way you go you can't go too far wrong, just avoid motorways and builts up areas.

Agree with both previous posters
From Hebden Bridge to Burnley the route via Blackshaw Edge and the Long Causeway is definitely worth a look.
Although a 'minor' road its wide enough, great sightlines and not to much traffic, an excellent drive.
Puts you in the right place for Blacko to Long Preston as well.

And if you have a bit of time a quick blat from Settle up to Ribblehead and back is very worthwhile smile
