Pyrenees/Andorra - Any 'must do' roads?

The OH and I are staying in the area later this year (Sept), and wanted to drive up into the mountains to visit Andorra. We'd be coming from the French side, and would probably aim to do it as a day-trip.
Are there any routes that are worth doing or seeing?
For a start ...... why the heck would you wish to visit Andorra? Are there any routes that are worth doing or seeing?
If only a day I'd aim from Andorra for Puigcerdà and head east back into France on the N116 to Perpignan.
Great Pyrenees roads especially on the Spanish side need at least a few days to enjoy.
I was weighing up going to Andorra on my trip, this is the route for that day..

Thoughts anyone?

Sorry for the lack of update! We stayed in a village towards Carcassonne, which meant that an action-packed week left us with no day to properly explore the Pyrenees and Andorra. A shame, but it was 30-35deg, and there's only so much driving one wants to do in that weather.
On the other hand, we visited Château de Peyrepertuse (a castle on top of a mountain - incredible views), which allowed us to at least explore the Western part of the Pyrenees. We chose a route that saw us join the D14 (South/Eastbound) from the D613 just after a village called Couiza.
A fantastic drive - lovely tarmac, a mix of sweeping corners and tight ascending/descending hairpins, fantastic views from the higher sections over vineyards and little villages.
Some sections were a bit narrow to make fast progress safely, but the majority was well-sighted and wide enough to push on. Here's a good representation of some of the better bits: http://goo.gl/maps/u5U6AojwTHs
Recommended for anyone staying in the area.
