As like last year, I am driving to the Stelvio Pass over the Bank Holiday weekend and driving up from the south side in my little Skoda Fabia vRS

Below is the route i'm taking

Eurotunnel Calais - Geneva - Milan - Stelvio - Innsbruck - Frankfurt - Calais Eurotunnel

Mountain passes on this trip are the same as last year

Col de Aravis, Col de I'seran, Col du Petit Mont Cenis, Stelvio Pass, Jaufenpass and Kesselbergstrasse

Reason i'm doing the same trip this year. Got two friends coming with me who have not been to the Stelvio Pass.

Last year I did Innsbruck to home on the Bank Holiday Monday via the Nurburgring. Nurburgring is closed this year on the Monday so rather than flog myself to get home, taking the extra day. Can anyone recommend good things to do in Belgium on that last day as go plenty of time until the evenign Eurotunnel home.

This will be my 3rd trip to the Stelvio Pass. Its not a good drivers road, I agree. Its a better day out I would say than some other mountain passes that are pretty barren at the top of them. That just my opinion though.

For information - the Stelvio Pass is closed on Saturday 27th August due to an organised bike ride.

That's more then I would want to do in a short period.

Good luck to you and your friends.

Back in one piece

Fabia vRS did 53mpg on the 2300miles trip (6 fillups (40L) 40/50 euros)

As suggested in other threads, did the D996 from Troyes to Dijon. Yep worth doing rather than driving on the toll road.

Stelvio was much quieter than I remember this year. Unfortunately got stuck behind a coach going down the north side so not as enjoyable. Did see an italian rider at the side of the road with his bike in two pieces.

Germany autobahns are boring as hell.

Good mpg that. We got 25 in the XK. Stelvio is good, nice stop at the top and the sausage rolls are great smile
