Bordeaux to Barcelona

Looking for some recommendations on a route from Bordeaux to Barcelona. We'll be doing it in a day so looking for something easily do-able but scenic enough to keep us amused.
Google's quickest route is Bordeaux-Toulouse-Narbonne and down the coast(ish). We've driven along the coast from Perpignan via Cerberes and into Spain that way and definitely wouldn't have a problem doing it again, though might be nice to try a different route.
There's another route passing Toulouse then heading straight down passed Andorra on the 'N9' which looks interesting and a tad more mountainous.
Any other suggestions?

Also, we'll be staying near Barcelona for 9 nights so any other interesting areas to explore would be welcomed!

Cheers, that looks like a possibility, as does the road to the west, the D929/D173 in France and A138 in Spain. I shall look in to both!
