Stelvio pass - mid October?
Discussion
Hi - I live in Switzerland and at that time of year it can be a bit touch and go with the weather - having said that even by December last year we had little snow.
Would suggest flying to Zurich renting a car and doing a few of the other passes on the way down; basically you can loop down to davos, over the fluela pass, over the stelvio (the best bit for me is actually the run through the bottom of the valley to get there on the swiss side)
Would then go via italy to the gotthard, go up to Andermatt, take the furka pass, then head north and there is another pass that takes you back to the main motorway in Zurich

It is October and I am currently at the top of the Stelvio. Just woke up in our hotel to be greeted by a blanket of snow but have been watching vehicles coming up from Bormio or Umbrail. They seem to be going quite slow apart from the transit type vans who appear not to have noticed.
There was no snow at all yesterday, but quite cold. Hovering just above zero.
