Highways trying to get us all to agree to the A303 improvements

https://highwaysengland.citizenspace.com/cip/a303-...

Its an ancient route going past an ancient place
What are the alternatives?
They've already closed off one of the ancient roads

Bulid a bank alongside the A303 as it passes the stones to remove the view (similar to what they did at Thruxton), remove the stupidly laid out Longbarrow roundabout and put in slip roads to exit/enter the A303 with a tunnel under the A303 for the A360 traffic. There you go...sorted it for less then £1.4bn!

No need to spend all that money or all the disruption over countless years, unless there is an obvious flaw in the above?

Well a bank would detract from the landscape/view so I am in favour of a tunnel and the longer the better, as for your other points, 10/10.

I strongly agreed with everything and added the comment "I'd strongly agree with anything up to and including a road made from crushed babies if it'd get the road built before I die".

not really, if you drive east past the stones the lay of the landis banked anyway so it wouldn't need to be much higher

It needs a tunnel, the longer the better.

Not only would it massively improve congestion, I would get to ride through a long tunnel on my rather noisy bike twice a day biglaugh
