Hello everyone,

I am in Italy with my UK car I was meant to come back to the UK in time for Mot but have had some serious issues.
I am now dur back end of the month and was wondering,
as I have not valid mot I have no road tax either I haven't Sorn the car as I understand you can only sorn in the UK, what are the implications of me driving it back, does border control check documentation.
I have insurance and have already booked a mot test in the town I live.
Any advice is much appreciated.

I think you may have a problem, but you might get a more knowledgeable response if you posted this in Speed, Plod and the Law.

You have a pre-booked MOT to which, if you were in the UK, you would be able to drive. You have to get to the UK first so I would do, by driving it, then once your car has passed the test tax it on-line and away you go, job done. I'm not sure what more you need or could do.

This topic has been done many times.
Back to basics. When you simply drove your car over the border into Italy you were technically importing it. Countries have agreed to these temporary imports (and subsequent exports) on condition that the car is legal in its original country.
Yours is not legal under UK law and cannot be driven legally in Italy or France on the way back to UK.
The correct answer is that it must be trailered back into UK

The other answer is of course to chance it. What are the odds on police picking you up and knowing the details set out above?

Your choice.......

A car with an expired MOT and without tax can be driven to a MOT. Insurance is what it must have.

Yes I also was under the understanding that I should have a MOT booked and go straight to the garage without deviation once in UK soil.

See Freddie Fitch's post above, you cannot legally drive through France.
