Am aiming to head up to the triangle this coming weekend if the weather is decent... Just a question if I could, coming north through brecon, is the A470 or the A483 generally the better route?
And also if someone could possibly confirm that the B4391 does not narrow into a single track road for extended periods it would be most appreciated as I would be taking a reasonably wide car and I get pretty antsy on single tracks....thanks

The B4391 is fine along all it's length from the A4212 to Llan Ffestiniog and you must drive it, both ways preferably.the loop B4391/A470/A4212 is fantastic. you'll recognize lots of photo locations from the car mags.
the Mac will be fine.
I like the A470 better of the 2 main routes south to north myself.
Coming to Clophill on the 18th?

many thanks for that, had been to the triangle some years ago with another car but could not for my life remember whether I had taken the B4391 and what it was like so just thought to double check. End up running through bits of the brecons on day trips every now and then so just thought I'll extend it over the weekend to go through mid/north wales this time and combine all the various bits of roads I missed out the last time, now that the satnav on the car kind of works at least I shouldn't get lost....
Clophill, will definitely try to make it this month, reckon you can make it this time?

Weather's always like this
Just to be pedantic its Cnicht, Moel Mawr and Bach in the background.
That road is awesome and what a car to enjoy it in! Been debating with friends if a 997.1 RS would feel 'too quick' for the road. Hopefully you can put it to bed!?
Great to see an example really used and covered in dirt!

Quite right Jon. You are entirely correct.I really should know better than that. That road is awesome and what a car to enjoy it in! Been debating with friends if a 997.1 RS would feel 'too quick' for the road. Hopefully you can put it to bed!?

GT3s are firm certainly but they have fantastic damping so they handle B roads pretty damn well. 911s are small and wieldy too so just about ideal for Welsh roads.
I reckon they are as fast as you could reasonably ever want to or be able to go but not too quick, No.
GTRs , Turbos, some other exotica might outdrag one in a straight line but 60 in a little over 4s and 100 in under 9 is adequate. And they have sensational brakes.
Mines a little enhanced aurally (ahem!) so I can scare the sheep more easily too.
B4391 is my absolute favourite but there's a lot of others around there too.

Good video Ally, more typical of Welsh weather perhaps. Been lucky enough to have a few wonderful cars over the years but I really love this one.
Its a very sweet RS this particular car.

"Too quick" ? I guess so (if you're a girl) and you've not tried driving the roads around there with something a bit more torquey . . . .Been debating with friends if a 997.1 RS would feel 'too quick' for the road. Hopefully you can put it to bed!?

and you can't deal with sub-zero temperatures and the odd bit of ice
Covered in dirt ? Do me a favour, that's a light coat of dust . . . . .
This is well used and covered in dirt
But if you want chilly . . .
