Thanks for the tip!

Does this seem more like it? I've added the horseshoe pass into it aswell:

If you're going to do the horseshoe pass, you should do Nant Y Garth Pass as well:

https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?saddr=Halesowen,+We...
Agree with this. Your new route misses out the B4391 entirely and whilst the rest of the A4212 is fast and fun the B4391 ALL the way to Ffestiniog is a MUST. I take on board the other guys opinions on th 4407 but like I say its narrow, bumpy and you miss out on a better road down to Ffestiniog and some spectacular views as well.

B4391 to Ffestiniog then A470 to Blaneau and then on to Betwys. is the way

Is that the A525 from Denbeigh to the horseshoe pass? I think I remember seeing that on a sign - I really enjoyed that road yesterday.

It is indeed! Someone on another thread on here recommended it to me, when I did it I just did the tree covered section and then turned around and headed back to the horseshoe pass. There's a couple of photos on page 38

+1 to the above

The entire stretch of the B4391 if you can pick it up east of Bala is bloody brilliant as well to be honest.

Excellent vid, clearly too testing for most Porsche drivers though biggrin (saying that, I almost came a cropper along there in the wet a few weekends ago in the 1M coupe) eek

Any roads you haven't video'd yourself driving in the UK biggrin

Any more pics of your proper shape Impreza rally car Mr Slippydiff? smile
A bit off topic, but what the h*ll smile

Chassis No PRO/WRC 97002.

The second WRC built by Prodrive.

It was the first car built for the Prodrive AllStars team. Driven by some bloke called Franco Cunico smile

Also driven by Alex Zanardi and Jean Alesi at the Bettaga Memorial Sprint.

Spent some of its life in Barbados before coming back to the UK :

But you miss out on this ^^^

and certainly in a GT3 you cant carry any reasonable speed at at all without lunching the splitter. Its doable but the alternative is much better. The remaining stretch of the 4391 is wonderful. And any road that requires you to stop and reverse 100 yds if you meet anything coming the other way is rubbish for a hoon IMHO.

The A470 is a blinding stretch from Blanaeu to Betwys as well.
Only Joshing, but if you think it's hard work and splitter unfriendly in a '7 GT3 RS, trust me, it was much harder work in a comfort seat equipped, poorly set up and braked 996 GT2 !

That section of the B4391 is "ok" wink

Slippy, that Impreza is sex on wheels, love em.

I think Chris Harris said McRae's Prodrive car was the most fun he'd ever had in a car and that was back to back with some seriously brilliant stuff he had at the same time.

And , yes, the Scooby would be enormous fun on the 4407.

Have to have a play in the area some time mate,

biggrin

Do you get many Police + speed traps etc up there ?

I know the Welsh plod have a rep for coming down on bikers like a tonne of bricks same here ?

Whats the road surface like ? Am I better going in car or is it ok for 2 wheels ?

What looked like a police helicopter (black with yellow too section) did a low fly by over the triangle while I was there yesterday. But I didn't see any speed traps, I was expecting it to be worse on a bank holiday.

ETA - That Impreza rally car is awesome!

You get a few during the day near the towns, but I've never heard of them on the triangle. Best way to do it is get up really early, do a slow run to get a feel for the road and make sure there aren't any police, then do a faster run. I did it a few weeks ago and it was great fun - didn't meet a single car on the entire run.

Absolutely stunning car, thanks for sharing the pics and videos biggrin

As much as I enjoy watching the current crop of cars in the WRC they dont really compare the Evos, Imprezas and Cosworths of the 90s!

I saw that on Thursday too. It actually flew past below me in a valley I was heading from Bala to the triangle.

Hi Everyone,

A few of us are planning a road trip from Bristol in a few weeks time. I've been to the triangle a couple times but don't really know the surrounding areas as well. Can someone critique the route below? I've tried to incorporate the B4391, Llanberis Pass, Triangle & Horseshoe - is there anything else to consider?

I'm particularly interested if there's a better start and finish to the journey. Any advice would be greatly appreciated biggrin

We must have just missed you if that was on Monday, looked about the same time from the dun position. I was surprised at the lack of PH style cars, only saw an E9X M3 and an Evora.
