Shieldaig to Applecross coastal route - about 30 miles of switchback driving and amazing views.
Well worth doing instead of the pass. But you'll want to do the pass as well when visiting. And in both directions. We stayed at the Applecross Inn last summer for a long weekend. Twas brilliant. Did the pass three times and the coastal route once. AND I made it to Inverness in the time mine hostess said locals could do it in. In a Kia!
Or should I say: In a rental Kia.

Torridon to Diabeg.
That was the single most terrifying road I have ever, EVER driven. No armco, single track, 300ft drop to the loch. Postie drifting his van in the corners. No sight lines and suicidal bikers...
When I got to Diabaig I had to rest for a bit prior to driving back...

IMO, maintaining momentum along well-sighted single-tracks is some of the best driving you can get and not too licence-threatening as a bonus.
That is it - maintaining momentum - anticipation of vehicles coming in opposite direction, blind crests, hairpins.....it is always a joy if you meet a few people coming in opposite direction who know how to use pasing places, when to press on to the next and when to give way and let the other guy come ahead...so you all keep moving.
