Put a map of Scotland up on the wall. Throw a dart at it. Drive that road.

As the pet shop boys once said "Go West" and you cant go wrong. The east coast has some nice roads but nothing on the west coast.

we stayed near aviemore (30miles from inverness) a few weeks ago and there are some real crackers. A939 is probably the pick of the bunch. mix of forest and really open mountain road; the B970 leading to it is a great B road blast. B9007 near there is great also with some cracking views. trust me, you don't really need to look on a map...just go for a drive and you WILL find some greats...

if you go anywhere near there...you MUST do the A939. it's very, very long. about 50miles i think, with villages in between though so go slow through them, but the rest is just fantastic. you can go from aviemore towards the road to go up to the cairngorms (wit the ski centre place at the top...) then make a LEFT onto the B970 (not right...that's too tight and blind to have any fun), enjoy that, then at crossroads follow signs for tomintoul and you'll soon join up with my favourite driving road ever...
