Why did you have to explain? What did the rozzers say?
Mainly I was covering a brisk pace through the valleys, and then he did every possible back ground check and even the tires (hence why I took a pic above) were road/street legal etc, jobs worth, but at the end of the day he is doing a job and he has to be sure of ''everything''!!! The numberplate wasn't a problem surprisingly enough! No fines or points, instead minutes (sorry whole hour) of my life I'll never get back!To be fair to the police man he did direct me to the road above, and by gawd what a road!!! It was like a rally stage, hairpin drops on the way down a mountain cliff face into valley floor hundreds of feet below! My suspension wasn't set up for the aggressive nature of the tarmac so my filling felt the surface! The road is old tarmac mixed with gravelly parts, so the diff loved it and I mean it when I say it, what a county and there isn't many places like this anymore.
Anyway ;-)
How the hell did you get lost starting in Swansea and end up over Devil's Staircase!
Irfon Valley, Llyn Brianne and the Staircase is ace, well worth the drive.
Had you tried to cross that bridge a week or 2 earlier though you might have ended up back in Swansea. The water level was probably 50cm above the road and absolutely rapid.

I have to be honest, No Sat Nav...and I assumed I was going to go up the mountain if I just headed north on the road from the "Evo Magazine" map I looked!!! It was an epic road trip none the less and I urge anyone reading the explore this area, as its beautiful and deadly raw driving experience!Irfon Valley, Llyn Brianne and the Staircase is ace, well worth the drive.

I thought I recognised your car, I very nearly bought it until the insurance shafted my hopes. I wish I swapped my 318is with you now and kept it tucked up somewhere until I could have run it As soon as my insurance got better, I ended up with a 328i sport, which blew up after 2 months!!
That'll teach me
Coincidentally, R961HUP lives close to me, small world.

Good lord, I've been past that route a few times and not even realised it. I love the run down from Llanwrtyd Wells into Llandovery!Irfon Valley, Llyn Brianne and the Staircase is ace, well worth the drive.
Actually, if you go into Llandovery, you end up on the A4069 very easily. EcosseBMW must have driven right past the end of the good bit of A4069, ouch! (Excellent road trip though!)

That brings back a few memories. My introduction to the Tregaron - Abergwesyn road was on a road rally back in the 70s. An interesting experience when you have a target time to achieve at night on a road you have never seen before! https://maps.google.co.uk/?ll=52.186004,-3.707285&...

I reckon our pace may have been a bit 'brisker' than Ecosse's. The only jam sandwich close by was in a Tupperware box under the navigators seat.
A quick google pondering where the evo triangle actually is (and how to get there) and I stumble across this:

what a site! Anyone know anything about it...?
