Averaging 50 on this road ain`t difficult but recording 130mph on that road, which stretch was that on.
130mph is extremely easy on a bike. 160mph+ is easy on a 1000 on the straight by the pub. A 600 will get 130+ on the down hill stretch heading in the the direction of Macclesfield, just after the corners after the pub.
I was on a work trip the other day and drove from Glossop, down the A57 to castleton, across to buxton then down to ashbourne.
The whole lot was hard to distinguish between gravel track and a proper road.
ive not driven the road. but with the cameras the trick will be to measure the exact distance between, the sections then work out the exact elapsed time, for each section so just like classic time trial rallying you can slow down/ speed up or even stop if you got carried away. i like the same bike same plate idea would love to know if they even send the ticket out for 500mph

I went for a farewell drive over the cat and fiddle today, there is some activity in the form of mobile road works near the junction with the A54.
hah I was there last wednesday yes looks like they are starting the rot!!
had the most amazing drive along there and the '5 danced its best dance
Matt
There's a suspicious pile of rubble just past the pub too, so its looking likely they'll be from the pub to the A54 junction across the top. The boring bit in other words, where I've never seen a bike crash occur.. unlike the many corners before that stretch where I see bikes on their side all the time.
Speaking of Plod, I had a couple of runs up there today and counted at least three FJR1300 Plod bikes, one of which was hiding in a side road as you drop down into Macc. Most bikers seemed to be well aware of them though, and the pace was sedate to the point of boredom.

I'm lucky enough to have driven this road from Macc end to Buxton and back twice a week for the last 4 years.
I'm yet to see a bike crash. I have however seen a few cars stuck in walls/field etc when i drive early on a monday morning. Some of the worst driving i see is by quarry type tipper trucks and OAP's !
The biggest danger the C & F has is the drop in temperature as you drive up it. I've seen the temperature drop by upto 10 degrees sometimes.
Its still an enjoyable drive with the 50 limit. I was under the impression that there are 5 sets of cameras and that they measure between 2 sets to give an average speed? So stopping in the pub wouldnt work.

Ye I was wondering about the short cuts?
I always take them so I will be passing the first and last camera well ahead of 50mph.
Thats why I think the measure you between any two cameras.
Exactly my point, if they use the first and last cameras you will have averaged over fifty and the other route isn`t limited to fifty so if correct it`s a serious cock-up.Shame really, ha-ha.I always take them so I will be passing the first and last camera well ahead of 50mph.
