Hi guys,

Need some input. Next week I am going to drive through Germany down to Milan in Italy with an Audi R8 on normal tires. Was told that the highways were just fine but wanted to check with you guys if anyone had been out driving the last few days.
Is this wise?

Thanks!

No.

At very least, you'll be breaking the law in Germany, Austria
and possibly Italy.

Both legally and from a common sense viewpoint, get Winter Tyres fitted.

The busiest Alpine pass from Austria into Italy is the Brenner Pass
at 4,500 feet - not something I'd try in January on summer tyres.

Correct, plus your insurance might cut down an eventual payment :-( Moreover even with clear roads hig-performance tyres are not at their best with cold road-conditions (loss of grip), weather-changes occur very quickly here.....

Have a safe trip!
