Was planning on heading up to the Triangle tomorrow, but I went near it today and there were signs saying the A5 was closed 8 miles west of Corwen. Sure enough, I've looked on the BBC website, and apparently it's "Closed both ways due to major roadworks around B4501 , in Cerrigydrudion. Diversion in operation - signposted". Bugger, that's one corner of the Triangle.

Has anyone been there while the roadworks have been there? The BBC site reckons they started on the 15th of this month, and end 9th Feb. Is it possible to somehow get around the roadworks and still enjoy the Triangle? Or should I plan a new route?

Thanks.

im going there next week so need to know this too. Judging by what the website says, its probably just shut for the small by pass section past that town on the easten leg of the evo triangle, so the diversion is through the town? Just guessing.

Either myself or a colleague are up ther quite a bit. From what i can gather the diversion travelling eastwards starts just after Corwen and takes you up towards Denbigh, you then come out along one side of the triangle into Pentrefoelas - a big detour.

I understand there is only a small section of the road closed by the old Wimpey (country cooks?) where you can take a left over a bridge (Maerdy or Ty Nant), follow a stream and then turn right again back onto the A5 just before Cerrig.

If this is correct the A5 section of the triangle should be open

The triangle is unaffected by the closure - I was up there last weekend.

Getting to the triangle from the East is where you will encounter the diversion.

Bear in mind that you will attract unwanted attention (as well as frostbite) if you do it bare wink
