Essex to Blackburn

Need to be in Blackburn by 9.30am Monday morning, I'm planning on leaving home at 4am, obv the m6 is a problem but anywhere else?

Don't know Essex well, but I assume you'll join the M6 near its start. If you're up early, Birmingham shouldn't be too bad, but I nearly always opt for the toll road when I drive to London from Blackburn - it's a bit pricey but refreshingly clear. Whereabouts do you need to be in Blackburn? There's 2 obvious junctions off the M6 you can take, depending on which part of town you need. Oh, and be careful at any traffic lights in Blackburn. I see folk running red lights EVERY morning on my way to work. Driving standards are grim up here...
