Driving to Milan
Discussion
Hi Everyone,
I'm planning a road trip down to Milan in late May, i was thinking of stopping in or around Nancy in Lorrane area of France on the way there just to break up the journey. Anyone recommend a good, cheapish, hotel with parking? Not after anything to fancy.
Also whats the best way from Nancy onwards. I was thinking of heading towards Basel then hitting the motorway down into Italy. Any other way that you know of that are possible. On our way back we will be doing a non-motorway sightseeing route so also any suggestins would be most welcome.
Many Thanks
Vimto

If you go into Switzerland, you will need to pay for the privilege via a tax, so I avoid it and head to Mont Blanc tunnel and then down past Milan on my way to Tuscany.
I've stopped down near Dijon in the passed and in France the Campanile, Logis de France, Formule 1 and other chains are always pretty reasonable for their basic price.
It IS possible to do Yorkshire to Tuscany in 17 hours on the autoroute/autostrada, but needs a very concerted effort to do so!
