I'm looking at organising a week away with a few friends next year and have come up with the idea of doing a trip down to Monaco to drive the Col de Turini. There's a few places I've already marked off as stop points and I've prepared a bit of a route and agenda already.

I'm just looking for any advice and anything I may have missed out, would be a shame to miss something out on the route having not thought about it. The trip will be 4-6 cars, all being Peugeot 106s (Rallyes and GTis).

Rough route is here. Stops for the nights are pretty much sorted, so the driving can be varied a little.

Timetable is:

Thursday - Day off work for final preparation

Friday - Meet up in the morning and drive down to Dover. Catch an early afternoon ferry to arrive in Dunkerque late afternoon. Check into hotel 5 minutes from port, then have the evening free to have a look round Dunkerque and get food. 4 hours driving.

Saturday - Depart Dunkerque 10am, drive through Belgium to Adenau with an hour's break for lunch. Arrive in Adenau at 3pm, check in to hotel then get a couple of evening laps in on the 'Ring. 4 hours driving.

Sunday - Spend the morning at the 'Ring. Leave at 1pm after some lunch. Drive south to Mulhouse. Arrive roughly 6pm. 4 hours driving.

Monday - 1 hour drive to Sochaux, visit the Peugeot museum. Leave Sochaux at 1pm, then drive down through Switzerland to Milan/Monza. Arrive in the evening, possibly 7pm, depending how it goes. 5.5 hours driving.

Tuesday - Five minute trip down the road to visit Monza if there's anything to see there, then a shorter day of driving as a bit of a break. Down to Monaco to arrive at 2pm and spend the afternoon there. Hotel just the other side of Nice, about half hour away. 3.5 hours driving.

Wednesday - Col de Turini day. Backtrack slightly and head up the Alps to the Col and then back down a slightly different route ending up back near Nice in about 2 hours. From there we head to Montpellier for our overnight stop, a further 3.5 hours away. 5.5 hours driving.

Thurday - A long day of driving, will keep it mostly to motorways with an odd detour, plenty of stops along the way. Leave as early as possible, arrive at the Millau Viaduct at 11am all being well, have an hour or so break around this point before heading on to Auxerre. 7 hours driving.

Friday - The return to Dunkerque. Leave Auxerre at 10am and travel to Reims. Have a break there and a nose around the old F1 paddock. 5.5 hours driving.

Saturday - Ferry to Dover at 11am to arrive 12pm, then drive home. 4 hours driving.

Sunday - Day of rest before returning to work on Monday!

I'm starting to get a list of things to research and find out about, so I expect I'll ask a few more questions as I go.

Where to stay in Milan/Monza, considering it's going to be a budget holiday as much as possible? I've found an Ibis nearby that looks reasonable.
Is there anything to see at Monza?
Vignette for driving through Switzerland. As simple as just buying it online? Roughly £25?
Should we avoid the San Gotthard Tunnel and take the San Gotthard pass instead?
French toll roads, worth avoiding them is possible? Or will the A road equivalent take too much time?
When to do the trip, wouldn't want to be there too early in the year that the Col de Turini might be snowed under, but would like to avoid the busiest time of the year.
Cost of stopping in Monaco, parking and possibly a cafe stop?

Did a similar trip last year, I'd recommend driving the Route Napoleon (N85) if you can. In Monaco I stopped in the underground car park opposite the casino, can't remember the cost but not overly expensive.

Haha, Pinocchios is a must Matt wink Highlight of any trip passing through Adenau!

I've read a bit about the Route Napoleon in the last week, it seems quite rated, will see if I can can squeeze it in, possibly avoiding Switzerland and Monza.

Swiss Vignette is easy - did this 2 weeks ago. A bloke will appear after customs and relieve you of CHF40 or €34. Speed cameras everywhere........
