That's me in the 458 I drove last weekend. Thankfully you can't see my face.
Driven...
Had a go in one of these at the Palmer Motorsports experience... speed, handling, grip... absolutely awesome.
Owned... toss up between several cars, including my current 996, but this wins (library pic)...
I ran a Series McRae Impreza as a company car back in 96-97. Despite getting 15 points in it (it was a bit of a police magnet) and the interior being a bit rubbish, everything else was utterly lovely. The steering, the handling, the grip... you could do stupid things in it and it would always sort itself out as long as you kept your foot in. And in the snow it was unbelievably good fun. Shame they turned in to chav mobiles.

The best car iv ever driven is my Saxo its fun to drive good on fuel and not that quick but itl do till im in a better job.
The best car iv ever owned would be my punto GT mostly because for some reason everyone seemed to really like it and people were always asking me questions about it ( mostly is it a turbo?)

undoubtedly the best "road car" i have ever driven:
and that is from someone who doesn't even "like" 911's................ ;-)
(no car i have ever driven (and after 20 years in automotive development, i've driven a few;-), can match the "your mum could drive it to the shops" ease, with the "win a tarmac stage rally straight out the box" maximum attack lunacy of the thing )
cant beat 911'sand that is from someone who doesn't even "like" 911's................ ;-)

Best car ever driven:
2008 Porsche 911 (997) Turbo, 18th Birthday present from the since ex-girlfriend.
Thankfully I didn't have to wear a helmet in the 997, was a tight fit in the Cayman, plus I smacked my head on the roof and fell back out of the car onto the tarmac whilst trying to get in...
Best I've owned:
Current one, 2009 Peugeot 207. Newest, quickest, best sounding, most frugal and it doesn't break every other week!

Hmmm I get asked this a lot as I've owned more cars than most (far more than in my profile but I don't have time to write them all).
I have to think about it every time as it's a broad question but I would say the best driving experience has to be the TVR Cerbera 4.2 on adjustable coil overs. Harnessed lunacy. On a hot day when the road was sticky full throttle would pick the front off the ground out of a 2nd gear corner/roundabout enough that you couldn't steer the car, under braking if you down changed too hard it would compression lock the rear wheels and you'd typically enter the corner with the back end out the wrong way forcing you to fight the car into the bend and then get back on the power to slide around the corner (just to control it) but even given all those quirks it was the most predictable and reliable handling I've ever known. It would never surprise you, always reacted to your inputs and because of that you could be confident in it, throw it around and push the boundaries harder than you'd ever imagine possible in a car that capable. It flattered the drivers abilities and was bloody quick too!
Unfortunately as a car to own it was slightly stressful always worrying what that new noise was, claustrophobic sitting in that tiny hot cabin with almost no natural light getting through the letterbox windows and totally impractical as a car to use to go anywhere/do anything productive.. not least because you usually arrived with your clothes smelling of oil.
This is the only pic I could find sorry:
For sheer acceleration (and let’s be honest, there's not much more important to a piston head than being slammed into your seat, vision blurred as everything goes backwards around you) it probably has to be one of my two nutty 944 turbos. Either my previous 3.2ltr 4cly turbo which had a massive 500 lb/ft of torque and only weighed (1290kg) or my current one which is only a 2.5ltr and has less torque but compensates with a HUGE turbo which kicks in like the car has just been hit up the rear by a wrecking ball.
However as an all-round driving ownership experience the 996tt is pretty hard to beat. It’s comfy, reliable, good looking and even standard/out of the box you wouldn’t put a lot of space between you in any of the mad hatter cars I’ve mentioned above. Modified it’s in a different league.

I like this man. You have great taste. If it wasn't for the way the 'Scooby' has gone I think it could have been one of the all time great classic Japanese cars. That shape car you had handled beautifully! One of the best 4wd cars of all time and an entertaining soundtrack to boot.Had a go in one of these at the Palmer Motorsports experience... speed, handling, grip... absolutely awesome.

^ We'll do that hoon sometime over summer, and on the Exige front, I want one with the older Audi 2.7 V6...
Sounds like a plan!Uni is petering out now, so I've had a little chance to put some miles on in between exams/deadline hell, albeit miles wrapped in cotton wool .
Your Guildford sort of way aren't you?
You going to be going to the Breakfast club at Goodwood on the 5th?
ETA: The Porsche experience wasn't at Thruxton was it?
I had exactly the same present, except with the Exige

Yup, more or less Hindhead, about a mile from the A3 Crossroads. I'm not going to be at Goodwood on the 5th though, I'll be in London the day/night before, and I'm predicting a heavy one...
Haha, a valid excuse in that case!I'll PM you when i'm all finished and we'll sort something out!
I've driven a Ferrari 355 at the Prodrive track and it was awesome. But the best car I have ever driven I also owned. It has a highly modified Lancia Integrale that I should never have sold. I miss it so much. It was mint and had done 30,000 miles. I got pissed off because it cost me £11k in 12 months but I should never have sold it.
the best i've ever driven is me dad's saab aero 9-3... he still dont know about it
it's an absolutely immaculate 10 plate. apparently these things get to almost 150... i did a lot less than that before i pussied out in fear of wrecking me dads wagon lol.
i've only owned one car...
it's a stter but i love it to bits, as does everyone their first car..

Kids have payed for me to drive super cars for my last 3 birthdays. My first drive was in an Aston Martin Vantage...my boyhood dream car, the second was a Ferrari Modena and my third was a Porsche 911 Turbo. There is no denying that the latter is the best. It handles superbly and hit the throttle and you are instantly pushed back in your seat. An awesome car!!!
Grumpsy.
