I was fortunate enough to be given a track day the other Christmas and went to bruntingthorpe to drive 3 super cars. The easiest car I drove that day was the Ferrari 458 Italia, the power and noise was addictive. The entire drive was amazing you could put the car precisely where you wanted.

That was hands down the best car I have or will ever drive, but will never own.

Best car I have driven that I could own was a Honda s2000. Was a proper hoot.

Iv not been fortunate enough to have driven any real supercars, however the best car I have driven is the car that I presently own.
Subaru Impreza Type-25 mk-1. The steering feel, the noise of the exhaust at full chat, the ability to easily dispatch most sports cars. The gold flec in the paint, the now slick gear change (up rated gear linkage).

The car I most regret selling, not the question posted but I miss this s54 engined z3mcoupe so much, my favourite car but not the best car I drove. .
The car that I think offers the best drive £ for £

I've been lucky enough to try many, many different cars from ordinary stuff through supercars to proper racers. The highlight bucket list "experience" must be giving an LP640 the berries on track at the tender age of 16, that was pretty mega. Not actually that inspiring a car to take to its limits, which seem quite predictable and understeery, but the noise, sheer amount of performance and open-gated manual make it quite a package. And did I mention the noise?

The best, though, considering only road cars has to be the Atom 300. Absolutely phenomenal. So much easier and more approachable than a Caterham, but when you start pushing, not only is it fast in a mind-alteringly savage way, it's also really intuitive to drive right to and beyond the limit. You can see everything going on and position it perfectly, it slides easily and naturally, sounds fantastic, all the controls respond instantly.. it's a very "together" car. More than anything else I've driven that feels like an extension of your body and you can do some really quite incredible things with it.

As for the best I've owned, hard to choose between my 328is, to be honest. The E46 is a really quite brilliant all-rounder, as good at taking a family up to Scotland as it is being hammered down some great roads when you get there. The E36 is beautifully analogue and, undergoing its slow transformation into proper track car, superb fun. Both of these.

We must have driven very similar cars, I drove the lp640; oh the noise I did something involutary in my trousers, the handling wasnt as amazing as I expected but thats down to it weighing so much. I also drove the supercharged Atom again the noise was insane. A supercharger whining next to your head, and the savagery of the power. I like the fact it had no power steering or servo assisted brakes, it made it more of a drivers car.

Possibly! As I say, these top quite a long list and the LP640 in particular was seven years ago now, so it must have made an impression. I much prefer a lighter car to hustle on track, 911s, mid-engined Ferraris and even M3s are far more involving to take round a circuit but as a road car, the drama of that colossal V12 is tough to match.

Lucky boy that I am, I've driven two Atom 300s, and the paddleshift 245s at Palmersport. It's better with the manual gearbox and astonishingly the 245s are quite capable of getting the power down, so the 300 offers the extra challenge, but whichever flavour it is every time I come away from an Atom I'm stunned by what a fantastic thing it is.

Best car ever driven, 750 HP of supercharged V10 around the general motors test track in Germany. Having taken Tony's MK1 Viper around the track so he could hear what it sounded like Richard decided I should take his out so he could also hear it on song from outside. The grip is huge but they have a reputation biting you if you don't respect them, as the power was brutal. I can remember it was almost painful on your internals when you floor it, I never thought I would drive anything that could come close to that performance feeling of riding a bike until I drove this - just loved it.

Most complete car ever owned, my 231 RX8. Yes I have had faster, better looking and undoubtedly more economical cars, but this was just a joy to drive. There was something about the smoothness of a rotary and the ability to just spool up like a turbine that made it unlike anything else. The handling in the dry was really well balanced, you could tell it was designed to be a sports coupe with a 50/50 weight distribution.

Least complete car ever owned, my 1938 Ford with bits of everything from RV8 engine to Mustang brakes and viva front suspension. If you want the thrill of driving but keep your licence something like this is the ride for you. It sounded fantastic and was a real buzz as to come up behind cars at 60 mph knowing they are wondering what on earth it is, next minute your heart is in your mouth as you go around a corner, no seat belts, no ABS, no variable power steering, its like a track day experience every time your on an A road, but a bit more scary.

Not driven too many exciting cars. A Mclaren 12C and Nissan GTR top the list by some distance though, fantastic machines, especially the Mclaren. My current Fiesta ST3 can be a great laugh when pushing on though biggrin

I drove the original NSX in Canada on top of snow covered hill top roads. It was an experience. This car had a racing steering wheel that folded to allow you to get in and out easier too but apart from that it was mostly stock.

The engine sound, the weighty steering (no power steering on these!) and the way it delivered the power combined with the refined interior (had climate control, leather dash, comfy seats et etc), supremely low to the ground and a panoramic view of the road ahead was sublime.

My own car is an E46 M3 and I still long for another NSX drive biggrin

I've been driven *in* plenty of other super/fast cars (458 Italia, C63 AMG Black etc) but the NSX will never be forgotten.

A beast! Love it and a bit different to the usual PH response.

I had to laugh at the 29 speaker bit though. I bet screen 1 in our local Odeon cinema doesn't have 29 speakers!
