Bit pricey, but maybe once I've sorted all the niggles!

There you are then, perfect for you they do fit in the standard casing. Mind you a gripper is a very aggressive diff, it might be a bit much for road use.

Well not much to report, but as there hasn't been much salt about over the break, I've made the most of it and got out and about in the gt, including a drive down to little Norwood nr. Milton Keynes for new years. It started to rain torrentially on the way which the car coped with admirably. The two speed wipers which were an upgrade by the previous owner were quick enough to cope with the worst of it.

A bit of free time allowed me to fit these:

Correct size pressed plate

Correct gear knob

And aroc key fob

I have this list of things to do:
New tachometer and speedo cables to sort clicking
Squeaky spongy brakes to sort
Clutch to replace
Cylindrical airbox to fit
New carb mounts to fit
1750 back axle with LSD to source
Brake lights to fix
Stone chips to touch up
Surface corrosion on sills to rub down and seal (underseal?)

Looking good. Where did you get your correct size pressed plate from? I need me one of those!

You need to look for chesnut registrations, and you'll need your v5 scanned/photographed and emailed. The plate is really nicely produced!

I think around £15, but can't remember exactly.

If you don't have a header tank see if you can get a LHD one with the ram pipe on the front.
It scoops cold air from behind the grill as opposed to hot air from under the bonnet.

Looking good Jo.... note you would need a new Plenum too (and probably a new carb prop) if you wanted the straight airbox.

I used to have a small number plate for my 1750 it looked cool, but I destroyed it on a fence post!

Such a beautiful looking car..
The Spyder Alfa in the classic film "The Graduate"
Always makes me smile when the little Alfa is taken
for a good hard drive...
Wonderful raspy soundtrack too..

Trouble is they sometimes overdubbed the sound of a V8 on that film as the Alfa Twincam 4 pot wasn't hairy chested enough for the Yanks......

Sacrilege!

Whilst discussing holidays with the other half, she said it would be quite good fun to get away in the Alfa to the South of France.

Result!

Just imagine seeking out those rally stage roads in the hills. Fantastic. As such, I've split the work required on the car into 3 or 4 stages, and placed an order for some parts.

Well, the conditions are that we don't break down, and I get some wider seats!

The standard Giulia seats are really comfy! We did our honeymoon in my Junior, 2000 miles or so, in total comfort, and you can stuff an amazing amount of luggage in the car too...

Yep, seats on my junior are very wide and very comfy! However, I would prefer something more like my old S4 Spider seats which had more side support and looked the part.

Yes, the big seat question!
The position of the current seats is perfect for me, low and far back, but the seat is only just wide enough, and a bit tight for anyone with wider hips.
Original seats would be preferable, but tracking some down is proving harder than finding some aftermarket alternatives.

These are around £400

These at £750

Perseverance for original seats maybe the best way, providing they will position me well in the car.

Excellent. Where was your destination?

I've driven to Prague and back in a modern car, which was a mix of villages, black forest and autobahn; it was an unforgettable journey, and the fact that the Mrs is open minded enough to venture into Europe in a 44 year old Alfa should really be taken advantage of!
