Got a few things fixed on the car yesterday -

Fixed the coolant leak, turned out it was leaking from the drain plug, there was only the thread left on the old plug so coulndt remove it so had to drill the old one out and fit a new one.

The car had started to cut out when stopping the car, the revs where going to low and it would just cut out, so cut out at traffic lights or when you stopped, video I took to show it happening after the revs are coming down -

http://youtu.be/wB8adfhs3S8

Turned the Idle up a bit and gave the Carb a clean, seems to have fixed it and hasnt cut out since, if it comes back i'll probably have to either change or clean the Idle Control Valve.

In the vid you can hear the Supercharger belt making a sound, it was quiet loud and could hear the noise in the car so applied some Belt dressing to it to quiten it down and also stops the belt slipping.

Hoping for good weather the weekend as Driving upto Mercedes Benz World on Sunday for the Pistonheads S/S, looking forward to taking it for a longer drive driving

Few bits to Report -

Thought i'd fixed the idling problem but it came back, mechanic told me it was probably the Idle control valve so ordered another one from Autolink and had that fitted and it was still stalling.

Spoke to Skuzzle Motorsport who fitted the supercharger kit and he said the base idle proberly needs resetting, so I reset it and alls fine now and drives great biggrin

No idea why the mechanic didnt check the idle first rather than tell me its the ICV that was the fault.

Ordered some Damper adjustment extenders for the rear Meisters so I dont have to take the panel hiding the fuel pipe off every time I wanted to change the settings.

Only fitted the one as dont have the spare in so can get to the other side, all fitted and easy to get to -

Went for a drive as the sun was out, stopped for a quick pic smile

Am excellent example. One question, what were the TA Technix like on the car? What difference did the Meisters make after they were bedded in?

Meisters are miles apart from the Ta Technix, Technix were ok if your on a budget but are incredibly bouncy and a harsh ride but did handle ok,was surprised how much better the Meisters were, a lot nicer ride and can adjust the stiffness to suit your needs.

Definitely go for the meisters if you can, buy cheap buy Twice smile

Great looking car, and in many ways very similar in spec to my own.

Had an annoying rattle from the exhaust recently, think the tip was hittting the sides so thought id try changing the standard exhaust mounts for some stiffer Powerflex Polyurethane ones.

Was supprised how much stiffer they were compared to standard ones, used to be able to rock the tip back and forth, now it hardly moves. Changed all four of the mounts to the New ones and theres definately less rattles from the exhaust now smile

Thought i'd start to tidy the engine bay up a bit.

Started with couple small items, some new Silver bolts and washers for the wings and also got a aluminium Fusebox cover which looks alot better than the crappy original sticker that was there.

Also been bugging me that the Oil breather filter and pipe was red when everything else is Blue in the engine bay so ordered some new silicone hose and filter.

Before -

and with the new Blue bits, my OCD can rest a bit now lol

Next want to paint the Rocker cover Black with Blue Lettering so it goes with the rest of the Bay.

Ordered a couple bits from mx5dan, a new Alloy Radiator which will hopefully improve the cooling now its supercharged, and a Alloy screenwash bottle so I can relocate it to the scuttle panel so its not right next to the supercharger.

Also got some new Silicone Radiator hoses in Blue from Stoney Racing, just got to find time to fit it all biggrin

Finally got round to getting the Rad and washer bottle fitted, decided to get the MX5 Restorer to fit it all as dont really have the room to get the car in the air to change the rad and hoses.

Glad I did as Garath had to move the intercooler pipe work about and fit a slimline fan to get it all fitting in the space.

Rad all fitted and with new Blue silicone pipes -

Washer bottle fitted too, no longer right next to the supercharger in the heat -

And a pick of how the bay looks now smile

Not done too much more to the car had a couple bits to fix.

Had a small coolant leak from the pipe that goes from the thermostat to the block, looked like it had rubbed on the Supercharger belt so have fitted a new one and cut it down shorter so it pulls it away from the belt more.

Also the Rear caliper was sticking so got a new one fitted.

Drove it down to the Pistonheads Sunday Service at Goodwood today, lots of great cars, can view my photos here if you like https://www.flickr.com/photos/tim0854/sets/7215764...

one of my mine smile

Make sure that Fiesta/Sierra trim doesn't go back on the new windscreen.
