The 650i has a slightly improved interior to accompany the larger engine. Performance wise I doubt there's much in it, however I know that the 4.8 V8 is regarded to be a fine engine. I've only ever driven the 650 so I can recommend that, but I'm certain the 645 is almost as good.

Monthly update.

The Toniq still lives, been very careful with the battery as I can't be arsed jump starting it any more. Had it out a couple of days ago, sun was shining and I thought I'd go to the pub to show it to a few of my friends who'd just got back from sea. As soon as I arrived at the pub, heavens opened and I was soaked. I also foolishly floored it and the R888's decided they'd had enough and did their best to throw me out my harness Thankfully, my amazing car control (excrement stained pants and a lot of luck) allowed me to continue on my merry way home. As I pulled the car into the garage, the sun came out for the remainder of the day, bugger!

I'll hopefully have it out again when the weather improves, it was a bit windy today. I'll also get a few videos of it on the move and some photos with a proper camera and not my phone.

As for the BMW, it's great, still loving it and comparing it to my brother's Z4M, performance, at least in a straight line, is remarkably similar (although I think he secretly prefers the noise mine makes)

Just read on a BMW forum how to turn the T/C off properly... may have to give that a try at some point although since I've already had a brown trouser moment this month (Toyo R888's + rain + soaking wet helmet + revving to 11k in 1st + shoddy road surface + stupid driver = tail out)I'll be taking it easy at first.

I love the two characters this car has, you can drive it normally in "normal" mode, put your foot down for an overtake, then return to a cruise. You can also be an animal in sport mode, snap your neck back with a prod of the peddle and cry at the 8mpg showing on the OBC.

No photos this time, the car is filthy anyway. It's also now sporting my private registration from the Megane which does actually complete the car.

Big power wet roads, semi slick tyres, know what you mean! Enjoy the rest of your leave mate, Im home in two weeks, can't wait to fire up the motors. Nothing like turning the key for the first time after months of being away is there!

PS Think we may both be responsible for an influx in Merchant Navy applications!

I know exactly what you mean about getting home and going for a drive, my last Chief was a petrol head and he'd be showing me all these great local roads he'd been on. Telling me all this when I still had a couple of months to go was not good

That Toniq looks awesome, I can only imagine how much fun that thing is, I'd never even heard of them before what bhp is the Fireblade engine in it?

I like the BMW 650 too, I had a run out in one of those a while back (A Convertible one though).

Fireblade engine probably has between 130 and 140 bhp, never had it dyno'd, certainly quick enough though!

The BMW is a lovely car too, addictive sound, perfect practical everyday car

I ask as there are a few different versions of the fireblade now, it sounds like yours is the same version as the one from my Bike (my bike is 132bhp).
that engine is a real peach relentless power right upto the redline and onto the limiter, and ultra reliable too. I bet it is a lot of fun in a lightweight car chassis.

It's surprisingly easy to drive, sounds great when it's screaming through a narrow street

Always have kids pointing and adults taking photos on their phones too

Update for 2012, spot the addition



Still loving the car, recently had the engine oil changed and its MOT. Averaging between 18 and 24 mpg though I've had 40mpg out of it when driving sensibly on the motorway.

Almost turned 28k miles

Forgot the plate wasn't in the original photos, woops!

Going to look into getting the car machine polished to bring the paintwork back to A1 condition and remove all the annoying surface scratches that it's accumulated over the years.

After another Christmas away with work, I decided that this leave I'd treat myself to a new car



Silver Birch V8V with iron ore red leather interior. 07 model year so it's the 4.3 but plenty powerful enough and the sound makes me grin from ear to ear.
