Engine looks interesting whats been done to it.
Its a very healthy engine but it is standard, I fitted the ITG filter yesterday. Ordered a Mal Stuart manifold and exhaust system today and over the winter I'll either pull the engine for forging or find a second engine to work on.Few more pics
Normal airbox
The underneath (you can see the current manifold is abit knackered, only bad point on the car)
Driver side wheel bearing needs replacing and the caliper needs cleaned up as theres a squeal under braking but the pic shows how clean it is in the arches
Replaced the old gaiters
Pic of the boot floor
The carpet has perished in places through age so should have a new one any day now to replace it. Had the centre out to rewire the earth on the head unit as it would turn off when selecting reverse
I went on the internet i found this... http://youtu.be/McyIJBIUYWs orgasmic!

All I can say is WOW! And what a glorious noise too.I was told that the last batch of 20 or so Talbot Sunbeam Lotuses didn't sell (there was a recession on - deja vu all over again!) and they were all shipped to a garage in Nottingham (?) where they were sequentially registered with the DAC xxY numbers and gradually sold off over time.
One (slightly) amusing story - my car was vandalized in Norwich at the height of the "let's steal a bonnet badge" craze. They took the Talbot badge, but left the Lotus decals completely alone.....

I love and have allways loved those cars.
The ones with dac in the reg were the last i think , i shall have a look for my old supercar classics magazine as im sure the reg on that car was dac14y.
Lot of the late ones seemed to have DAC plates and the limited edition Avon Lotus Sunbeams had DDU plates as i recall. The ones with dac in the reg were the last i think , i shall have a look for my old supercar classics magazine as im sure the reg on that car was dac14y.
In 81 I was working at The Wellington Hospital in St Johns Wood and one of the Consultant Anaesthetists from Barts rolled up in one of these. David Nancekeville, he was the chief doc at Brands, the Lotus Sunbeam was stunning.
His was shod with Minilites, I'd recommend you get a set, so much better than copies in every way. So light, and unsprung weight's worth 4 times sprung weight handling wise. Your car looks a cracker.
DAC19Y's an Avon if Im not mistaken, DAC1Y to DAC50Y were avon cars.
I had an escort twin cam early eighties, two fellas I knew had Sunbeam Lotuses, we'd go off caning it around Elstree Radlett and Letchmore Heath about 2am. Imagine the sound if you were in bed, three webered up twin cams flying around.
Good times.
