CarlosV8 - since then I've got into V8s instead.
Well, there's a V8 Mk1 (Audi engine) being done Oop North. Bit of a squeeze.
Would that be Paul Woods by any chance? Back in my MR2 days he was shoe horning in mk2 Turbo and Camry V6 engines into the mk1. Brilliant!Well, there's a V8 Mk1 (Audi engine) being done Oop North. Bit of a squeeze.
If (when?) I do get another mk1 it'll have to be something with a blown/V6/V8 engine - the n/a 4AGE is a fantastic lump and suits the car perfectly, but a little more power would have been nice! I was tempted with a conversion when the bottom end went on my other halfs car (either a s/c lump or the 20v version), but lack of money meant a cheap standard engine had to do, which was a shame!
Anyways, enjoy the car, I'm sure you'll love it!
> mazdajason - Were you at JAE last weekend with this?
Not me, nor this car. Arrived too late for me to get to any events.

Yes - that's him. The V8 he's putting in is longitudinal = BIG work. So the Camry V6 is much easier. I love the idea, but I wonder if the change to a torquier engine would change the driving character? Suppose it'd make it a more grown-up near-supercar though.5705 said:

Paul's V8 is quite literally going to Rock The Kasbah!! I am looking forward to seeing it and hearing about how it drives. It's going to be a rocket-ship, so am not totally sure if it's going to keep the nimble handling of a sorted AW11Not me, nor this car. Arrived too late for me to get to any events.

My SC has more bubbling along the top of the windscreen than yours (a job for this winter), but am pretty sure that if you get in there now you can stop it doing any scary damage (which - trust me - can happen without anyone really ever knowing!).
I am aiming to carry out some bodywork care and sympathetic mods to my car this winter, including an engine out rebuild to get it in tip-top condition for spring.
Will you be driving yours through the winter? If I had a genuine SE, I probably wouldn't, but I did drive my SC throughout last winter and it performed flawlessly whether on muddy/snowy country lanes or bleedin' cold early morning motorway commute.
Have you had the toblerones off for a look underneath them? they cover the sills.

I took the car along to a locally recommended body shop this afternoon. He thought the spreading rust bubbling was caused by a poorly fitted replacement windscreen (not a stone chip). Was quoted £250 + VAT + windscreen in/out fee. Not bad, will get another quote ASAP.I am aiming to carry out some bodywork care and sympathetic mods to my car this winter, including an engine out rebuild to get it in tip-top condition for spring.

Will also get the car on to a lift to see if there's anything worth them doing on the underside at the same time. All these jobs to be done this winter. Lots of little jobs, too.
Slacked off this afternoon and went for a short blast to the seaside for fish and chips!
Sad to say this wonderful car is now for sale, after a year of hardly driving it at all. Moving into the GF's with no garage and questionable yoofs hanging around the private car park really hasn't helped.
