it'll still have some vacuum pipes won't it? don't know if a vac leak would affect it in the same way...

Ahh excuse my ignorance, I'll add that on my list of things to investigate

Idle control valve is the best bet - it's a 10min job, dead easy. But do check the few vac lines as well; just chop an inch off and push it back onto the barbs.

Great cars, that make more sense the further you drive them. I put >120Kmiles on mine and gave it away at 210K at which point there was essentially nothing wrong with it (just valueless!), used no oil, flew through every MOT - and it would still turn-in 35-mpg+ on long runs.

Nice choice, but have you checked the paperwork carefully to make sure you've bought a SAAB, singular? The last thing you want is to get home and find you now own a struggling Nordic car manufacturer.

I reckon you should take it to your Mum's on Thursday. See if you can get it sorted there... wink

(BTW, for £200 I reckon you could pick up several beleaguered Swedish car manufacturers... frown )

Why sell if you're paying out to fix it?
