Congratulations Felix, I hope you'll keep us updated about life with the new car just as well as you have with the old one.

The car on the lift appears to be a 924 GTR replica/lookalike.

Is the black car a 924 Turbo?

I can see what it looks like, having stood in the rain at La Sarthe in 1981 and watched it. I was wondering was it really was.

The black car is indeed a 924 Turbo S2. However it has a genuine Carrera GT intercooler made by Langerer & Reich along with 16" Fuch wheels, adjustable Koni's and carbon fibre wings.

The white car is a GTR evocation, with a fully seam welded chassis and 400bhp engine. It's based on the 2l rather than the 2.5 mind.

Plenty more details to come of course!

I wonder whether I know the car - there cant be too many 931s which have an original 937 intercooler.

Im not sure about the trim, but I would advise keeping hold of the sports seats if you can. Their prices haven't risen like the later type, but Tombstones are brilliant seats and you struggle to buy a decent pair.

Yes, I'm going to be keeping my seats from the white car. Also tempted to keep the Momo wheel as it's a lot better to drive with than the 3 spoke.

The car was built a few years ago by Crow Magnum/Jon in the 924 club. It's definitely one of the best CGT replicas and also has a genuine CGT rear bumper. Being an S2 and with the intercooler, it can't be far off a real CGT in terms of performance.

It has probably worked out for the better, that you didn't buy the Turbo tht you forfeited due to the cost of insurance.

I have a 944 Turbo, a 2.7l and a series one track car and Ive owned many others including an M758 and a 968CS when new, and I STILL want a 937 or 931/937 replica.

I came very close to buying a C-GT in 2000 but it was too dear, although cheap relative to todays prices and it is still the FrontRunner that interests me the most.

Yes, forget the 968CS, the 924CGT is the holy grail in my opinion. With the intercooler and standard boost this should be putting out around 200bhp. It's considerably lighter than a 944 S2 of similar power and likewise, with the intercooler, I should be able to run a bit more boost without issue.

Happily, my white 924 is insured with Lancaster and the CGT replica attracts no rise in price!!

Once my white car is sold, you're welcome to come out for a drive if I'm ever passing by.

I can see I rubbed you up the wrong way, but I was only trying to learn more details about the white car. I'd have had a 938 in the garage if only I could get comfortable in one. As it is, the damn steering wheel is so low I've never been able to get properly set, and it affects my ability to drive one fast. All that stemmed from watching the GTRs at Le Mans in 1980 and '81.

Its been a long day at the end of a long week Charles.

How tall are you and how long have you tried for? In my experience 924s and series one 944s feel uncomfortable when you get in, which can be difficult, but when youre moving they quickly start to make sense, even where you are squeezed in.

The driving position is actually better than the series two 944, but slightly less accessible.

Very few cars will still have the alloy seat raising blocks fitted to them, but you can make quite a difference with a smaller Momo steering wheel. People are frequently disappointed when they try, but this is because the original wheels have an off-centre hub, so the smaller diameter replacement wheel ends up giving them no extra legroom. You can buy Momo wheels with off-centre hubs though, or if your preferred wheel isn't available in this format you can buy eccentric spacers which give the same effect.

I have also found that one or maybe even two 60mm spacers increase comfort dramatically for both tall and wide drivers, by raising the wheel and by allowing your legs to straighten.

I hope that this helps and makes up for my hostility.

I recognise that garage too! It has the remains of Stephen Brassington's orange 924 Turbo in it and also the car that it nearly became.

Hey Cedric,

Yeah, to allow easy fitment of Porsche wheels and for more braking power. And those drum brakes are a pain! MC on the 924 turbo is the same as the NA so that doesn't need changing.

Currently running Gaz coilovers on the front and yellow Koni adjustables on the rear but will fit the matching Gaz ones.

Anyway, big news is that I am buying a new car and so this is now for sale. Slightly impulsive but I thought it was an opportunity not to be missed!

It'll be at Donington on Sunday with a huge selection of 924's as part of the 924 National Rally. Bring £2k and it's yours with the low miles engine and all my spares.

Reason for sale:

As I scrolled down I felt a twinge of disappointment, then got to the reason. Stunning car, looks so right.

Everything is sorted out for collection of the black car, so the white car can't hang around and is now for sale at a bargain £1500 with everything included! The cost of Gaz coilovers, 5 stud brakes and leather seats must be near this alone!

It's a lovely car and I'd love to take it off your hands. Got enough problems with my two 944s though.

Good luck selling, whoever buys it is getting a great car.
