Has the CL dropped your pants with an eye-watering bill yet? As TBH thats what they are renowned for, eh....! Thanks mate! To be honest I've had the car just under a year and done 9k in it and it's only had 2 issues - the standard keyless go fault, which is a £500 fix and there was a starting issue that cost me £60 to get fixed! It's only got 70k on the clock with a full MB history and it runs as smoothly as it did the day it was built. Bar the mods, the most reliable car I've owned in line with a brand new 1 series BMW I bought a couple of years ago. I also bought this car with a pretty realistic view on cost and it's not been an issue.

Did it drop a lot at 25? I do have a massive soft spot for Mercs. I nearly drunkenly bought a 190E in a pub off of an old man a couple of years back

I've always loved Mercs, I've had bmw's, jags, audis, vws and stuff in the past but I really now only look at Mercs!

Being 25 is great for insurance. Even an E39 M5 is hundreds under a grand!

A trader's policy is where it's at. I'm 26 and £700 gives me the privilege of jumping in and driving most cars. My old policy had a list of exclusions, most of which are cars I will never see; Bentley. Alvis , Ferrari, and a couple of the latest and fastest AMG Mercs. No Porsche was excluded, E46 M3 was on there yet strangely no mention of an M5! I'm surprised at how easy trade insurance policies are to come by, it wouldn't surprise me if there are people out there with fictitious proofs (eg, trade invoices etc) to get themselves such a policy, by all accounts a cheap ticket to own and drive cars that would otherwise be very expensive to insure.

My dads F430 is the only car we have that im not covered on at home (got a MW 650 cab, RR Vogue, SLK, Boxster S and my CL) What credentials do you need for a trade policy? I have a registered company if that helps?

Not my cup of tea. Well. As a standard car definitely. With the lowering and 'stancing'. No thanks.

You'd be surprised at how little work has actually gone into this, as I did a lot working out before I bought stuff to make sure there was little trial fitting! So far, the mods done are new custom stainless back boxes, the tint was done before I bought the car, the height adjusting links have been wound all the way to their limits (only for parking up never driven that low!) and the wheels are Rotiform BLQ's - 19x9.5 all round with 235/35/19 pirelli p zeros on the rear and with 20mm spacers making them ET15 and 225/35/19 Kumhos on the front with 10mm spacers making them ET25 - that is literally it! I've also run the front plateless a few times as I also removed the number plate plinth, but the bumper needs some work under there, and it attracts attention as it is, I don't want to annoy the old bill!

I completely understand your thinking, I used to not be a fan of "modifying" cars as I clearly don't know more than the engineers and designers who made this car, but now I just like to make it a bit more individual, and I hate huge arch gap anyway! The good thing is, that if I ever get tired of the look, i can have it back to 100% factory standard in about 2 hours - which is good for selling it on!

It actually looks ok... I prefer it stock but how you have it is nice. Is rust an issue with these?

Looked great before it was "stanced" and those super-fussy wheels don't suit the clean Mercedes styling at all imo.
