st, that is terrible mate, sorry that has happened. I bet you wish you'd seen that bd post now!! What a mess.

Sad to say, but there's no sense in suing someone who is penniless. Make sure you post some reviews of his work on a great many forums, and hope that nobody else is stung by him. Whoever heard of a colourblind sprayer!!!

Well I've discovered he's been working unlicensed and there is no chance of him continuing work as I've got consumer affairs on his case.

He says he is penniless though it only costs me $75 to go to court as its small claims under $10k so I may as well go ahead..

If it's only that little I would definitely do it. Chances of you winning have to be quite high if he's unlicensed and you get the opinion of a specialist 3rd party?

Wow, just killed several hours reading all through this thread and your write-ups are brilliant! VERY jealous of you car history .. My dad used to import cars a few years back before the exchange rate got too bad, had the awesome experience of driving an R32 before he sold it (sadly not a GTR, but being a GTS-T it was still turbo + RWD.. And I was in my first car at the time, which was a 1ltr Nissan Micra ...!) so that was great fun.

Anyway, gutted to hear about your paintshop experience ... It's shocking how these guys actually get into business with quality like that, but at least he won't be messing up peoples cars any more!

Keep your chin up dude and move in to the next money-maker biggrin

Alrighty I'll do an update... Not that much has changed though. I did sell the Volvo at a loss of around a grand, not too bad in the scheme of things.

First off, pics of the land barge attempting to venture back to more familiar ground...

This was a brilliant daily. I did a bit of research on the dash and it turned out to be a factory fault with them which was an easy and cheap fix once apart. The part cost 40 cents... Got my mechanic to fit it and all was well. As you do... I then put it up for sale to see if there was any interest in it while I drove it.

After around a month, I had a viewer who bought it within 1 minute of a test drive.. I hadn't priced it high (still made a minor profit rolleyes ) but in truth, I was a little over the fuel costs... It wasn't THAT bad (20-22 MPG mostly city driving), far better than any Aussie V8 but a full tank was essentially my weekly income so that got old quickly haha. Still, I was sorry to see it go as it was perfect in every way, apart from colour... No issues with it whatsoever. Something about the Honda having half the cylinders and capacity yet making the same power got to me a little... I do like efficient engines wink , yes I know built for different markets but that's why I'll probably never buy an Aussie/American V8.

At this point I decided to drive the S2000 everyday to try and save money for whatever may come from court. For about 2 weeks I was happy but then I got sick of driving it everywhere, putting kms on it just for menial boring tasks and getting it dirty (inside) from football training etc.

So I went car browsing again... Not long after I bought another car I shouldn't have... More later.

Now with court, as usual, its taking forever. I expect it will be another 2 to 4 or so months before its all sorted. The "painter" is claiming he re-passed his licensing on the work he did on my car and refuses to budge, saying I'm purely talking rubbish and is counter-suing me. (I have no clue what for, also no idea when trial will be...) I had an independent report performed as well as obtained quotes to re-do the job properly. The quote is in excess of $14k as it has to go back to bare-metal because of the stty paint he used. This is to ensure it won't bubble up in future (it is already bubbling and fading in parts now..).

So unfortunately, no more updates here. Added to the fact that my UK trip is now in jeopardy as I was going to sell the Honda to fund it (worthless in current state). Might have to work locally for a year or two (after uni) to get the funds needed to repair it to a suitable standard, then sell... (Obviously taking a massive hit) Alternatively, keep it forever and scrap the UK trip. The latter is probably going to be the outcome at the moment, pending what happens with court. I've already bought and installed a carbon Spoon intake and a full stainless dual catback out of impulse rolleyes .

And about a week ago, the car developed a weird whirring noise which seems to be coming from the middle of the car (when sitting in the driver's seat) so I'm not driving it at the moment... Thinking its just an exhaust leak between the headers/cat but will have it checked out soon.

Right, now to the car that I shouldn't have but couldn't resist purchasing...
The advertisement popped up at 4:30pm and I was driving it at 5:30 and had placed a deposit...
I was initially looking at cars in the under 2k bracket just to leave at uni, perform the daily requirements etc. Spending all my remaining funds in my bank account netted me this:

Apologies for the pics.. The car is absolutely totally filthy. A 1996 E39 528i - identical to my mum's car in model and year but (thankfully) not colour. Also, the previous owner was a surfer so it had hideously ugly roof racks.... That now reside on mums car, ha-ha.

Right details: 143km, full log books and has had a head rebuild last year in September that apparently cost $6k eek . I really like the BBS wheels and it has been lowered on Bilstein shocks. I'm really in two minds about keeping it for a longer run and getting the update headlights, tail lights and boot lip spoiler, maybe some carbon bits along the way too.

The entire car has just two minor problems exist with it: FSR broken - new one ordered for $51 delivered and the front windscreen seal is beyond perished - will get to this soon. Progress will be slow with this and the S2000 as my mechanic has just taken a 3 month holiday wobble .

That's bang up to date as far as I'm aware... At last count the bimmer makes 22 cars yikes .
Sorry for the slow posting - I hadn't forgotten wink.

Another good write up, looks like people may have missed it slightly as your thread usually gets more attention.

22 cars by your age is good going, especially considering what some of them have been. I admire how when you've set your heart on a car you go for it and don't sit around wishing like a lot of people do - top marks for you still mate!!
